Hi,
Could be a faulty rotation sensor on one of the wheels, I would post a photo but i don't know how.
If you send me your e-mail address i will send a photo.

Cold Fusion.

The ABS computer/Engine ECU should be able to give you a diagnostic code for the fault also ...

If you have access to an OBD-II reader or a friendly dealer then you will probably be able to find out exactly what is wrong. Sensors are the usual fault as Nigel says as basically they are the only parts exposed to the environment that can really affect the ABS - apart from the ABS unit itself which is pretty reliable.

Here is something I found also ...

<snip>
Since sensors and reluctor wheels work together, and commonly on the front axle is where they attract a considerable quantity of brake dust shed by the front callipers. Heat transform this thin dust into a carbon like coating which “delays” the reading made by the sensor by minutes, hence the interpreting by the abs computer of these delays as a continuous difference in rotational speeds between one or more tires -- eventually exceeding a threshold value and triggering a "fault" light. The obvious solution at this point is to take the sensors out and clean them for function. However they are very fragile and it is easy to produce damage in this process. Hence the clear solution is replacement.
