After much debate I've decided I'm going to remove the ABS from the Clio.

Is it just as simple as removing the unit and then plumbing the lines into the master cyclinder as normal?

abs wont work without the fuse but it fail the mot

they did mine 3 years on the trot in 3 different test centers with just the fuse and the bulb out - they don't actively search for the abs unit and sensors.

Plus if they did say anything just put the fuse back in pop the bulb in and get it passed.... Bonus is you retain the abs for resale value in the future and it costs you nothing.

i know they don't actively look for it but it's still a reason to fail, weather they notice or not says more about the local mot tester than anything else!

I can't see three independant mot test centers not doing they're job properly.

Not if your one of those empty heads who are coming from outside the "group" so to speak...  :D

Trouble is the whole brake set-up is off the car at the moment. It's a complete rebuild.

I've still got nuts to get off the abs unit that have rounded off even with the proper spanner.

I just see it as an easier option to leave off than mess around trying to get it working again.

i don't care how many places have looked at it! it should still have failed. you can't exactly give advise saying it will probably pass because the chances are they wont notice!
