21 still running rough

21turbojas

Well i idles ok, changed the spark plugs, cap and rotor arm look ok, its not so bad (ok) under load, but about 2,000/3,000 rpm starts kangroo'ing/missing/spluttering (seems worse when warm) so much you have to change down gear or put your foot down (not much of an option in a 30pmh speed limit!) hence I'm thinkinkg perhaps coil? If a plug lead wouldn't it do it all the time? Does seem to pop and bang a bit out of the exhaust which could be overfuel?

Any ideas peeps?!

Is there enough fuel in it? Is it fresh fuel? Have you changed the fuel filter? Have you tried a different pump? Different Throttle Position Switch?

Throttle position switch, sounds exactly the way my car was running when I had mine set wrongly after changing it.

Funny thing is the fuel pump is on a switch of its own inside the car, turn ignition on then have turn the fuel pump switch on before it will start (as obviously not pumping fuel) not sure if still running through a relay, haven't investigated that. We had a 5 GTT which had a knackered fuel pump relay, it just cut out one day.
was ok before replaced the turbo (maybe unrelagted), fuel is fresh, enough in, so could be throttle position switch then (not had new fuel filter yet, or pump) guess got to get out in the garage again...

has anyone got a tps switch i can purchase

the relay is under with the ecu, it is attached to the underside of the beige cover

doenst matter how the fuel pump is wired up it wont cause any of the symptoms you describe

back to drawing board then it idles fine and as say when you boot its fine its just at low rpm

I would be inclinded to put the pump back onto the loom so it uses the relay.

Obviously a form of immobilieser

So a faulty fuel pump wouldn't cause cutting out?

Erm.

So it's OK when you give it a bootful of gas? Hmmm. Defo have a play with the TPS.

I was talking about the wiring not the pump. Doesnt matter if its got a wire from the batt or via the relay. If its faulty wiring, like a break then it would be easier to diagnose; ie cutting out when going over bumps etc.

adjusted tps as dave kindly explained how to its better bet she still has a slight miss from idle up to 3000 rpm
it does seem to be over fueling popping and banging on overun can you adjust the fueling ???? jason

They're supposed to do that, unless you're completely off throttle in which case it's TPS or butterfly still.
