miles are rolling on and nothing major to report. Does seems to be a little moan/groan at the rear, sounds rotational. I may look into wheel bearings next.
Hi,
Moaning and groaning can potentially be coming from the big castellated axle hub nut, and the tapered cone washer can move isiden tapered Hub area leaving a fine metal dust, and wearing out every thing.
If this is the case the only real cure is replacement used parts, but new cone washers are available from the French.

its been a while, I've hit some of the body work rust with a sander and coated it with jenolite. Miles have been piling on and I'm trying to use it as much as possible. It could defo do with a new exhaust soon too, its blowing a fair bit so gets a little too noisy at certain revs, Id love to put a tubular manifold on and a single weber 40 or something but ive not seen a exhaust manifold pop up for sale ever (may pop a message on the RCCC fb page) . I have also fitted the renault 4 wheel centres, not sure how i feel about them yet.... the front i feel needs to look a touch lower too, i may look to make a splitter just to give it the illusion of being lower

With that engine, changing the manifolding, will probably just give it a lumpy tickover, if you can find a 13/1400 that would work better. Think the 1100 cam is good for about 4k and that's it. It's pretty Torquey at the bottom though.

Was only looking for a better sound and and upgarde over a huge power hike. I actually like pottering around in it as it has enough for daily traffic. I've been offered a few 1.4s already but I'd put an engine swap off till the winter if I ended up doing one

Funny enough i do have a fairly new old stock silencer for a renault 8 sitting in my shed lol Renault 8 s was only 1108 but think it had a different camshaft as well as the twin choke carb

I could be interested if you are willing to part with it?

I have a friend with a 8s, i should have a poke over that for differences @PaulyVenturi

I've also been offered a few 1390/1397's so could potentially just go down that route in the future 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes willing to part with it as i run a twin exit on mine . also running a 1289 cc engine ,if you can find one bolts straight in without all the flywheel clutch issues .

Did a thing, well a few. Put some yellow film over the headlights, a touch unsure on this at the moment but its easy to sort if I decide I don't like it. Next up, a mk1 golf repro cheapo front splitter. Came in from Germany, fit isn't 100% but perfect for the 8. Adds some extra lows at the front but without actually lowering the car any further. Giving off some old school racer vibes.
