wont idle

just got a 91 chamade and was going great till weds now when it starts it cuts out straight away it wont idle checked fuel pump etc backfired too and sounds terrible like a tank! not good with cars any ideas?

hi welcome have you check the spark plugs

have you tested the iscv? are you gettin a spark? if not test the crank sensor (you will need to check the ressistance with an ohm meter)

if its a 16v check for water around the plugs.

it does sound a little like some plug wells full of water yeah, well thats the easiest to check so have a gander there, if it aint that then start the harder checks

sorted thanks guys spark plugs full of water striped it down no cover on the block put one on everytime it rained or i washed it water was running in to the block put new distributer cap on and fixed idle speed running brilliant
