5 GT Turbo wiring help - oil pressure/level sensors

Hi Chaps,

Some of you may know that none of my wiring is original and i started from scratch so need some advice on getting my electronic oil pressure gauge working.

So, just to be sure. Switch in the sump is oil level and it has two connections on it? - Note, Oil level does work when i switch the ignition on and goes off after a short while.

oil pressure is off the turbo feed and has one connection on it - Is that correct? i have followed haynes manual and tried several diffferent connections to the instrument panel but it just wont work.

When the car is running the oil light is on and doesn't go off unless i disconnect one of the cables off the sump switch - I think its earthed.

I short, can anybody tell me where the two wires off the sump switch go and where the one cable off the turbo feed go?

Also note - I have tried two different instrument panels to rule out dodgy panel.

Any help appreciated.

Mr ward has been giving me some advice. Seems he has had the same issue so will have a play with it sometime this week. Potentially, yes. A swap around. I hope it's that simple but it has blagged my head for a good few hours.

Usually you have two or three sensors.

>Level (pencil shaped, 2 connectors)
and then
>Combined Switch and pressure sender (Mushroom shaped, 2 connectors)
or
>Pressure Switch (Mushroom shaped, one connector)
>Pressure Sender (Small, cylindrical, one connector, OFF <1bar, ON >1bar oil pressure)

It all behaves in the same way though.

The level sensor doesn't earth through the engine which is why it needs 2 wires. The level sensor feeds signal to the oil gauge on the dash when the oil switch is OFF.
The switch turns on and off at 1bar oil pressure, so when the oil pressure hits 1bar the switch turns on and changes the oil gauge to read from the oil pressure sender and turns the red lights off. The oil sender which is a dead simple 5v through the gauge to the sender which is a potentiometer earthing at the block.

Is there another model oil. Level sensor we can use say a Peugeot or citroen one?
