why does my exhaust hang!?

G

Guest

Recently fitted a cat to the car and it seems to be weighing down the exhaust! looks like its gonna drag on the floor what is going on? is there a special mount?

is it hanging low towards where it turns at the back end of the centre section?

Hmm well if u look at the exhaust the backbox is up okay and the downpipe is in place alright but the cat is weighing it all down like bending it in the middle.

I have a scorpian cat back exhaust system so no center section?

hmm not sure then, i know it helped my bros catback system when we loosened off the U bolt that connects backbox to the rest, jacked the whole system right up with bottle jacks then tightened it all up again. stopped it dropping as much.

1. Buy a normal exhaust clamp (like the one used to connect the exhaust over the rear beam)
2. Purchase a small metal rod.
3. Pay someone a few quid to weld the Rod to the exhaust clamp.

Hey Presto, you now have an adjustable Exhaust Hanger which will clamp to suit your requirement. should allow more adjustability in aligment and height due to the nature of the exhaust clamp being able to rotate.
Looks good when an exhaust sits exactly in the middle of the Exhaust Tunnel

Exhaust Clamp = £2
Metail Rod = £1
Welding = £2
Non Rattling/hanging Exhaust = £Priceless

haha i love your answer to this mate, but how is a metal rod going to keep my cat up? lol what is it going to attach to?

You should check all the brackets you have are tight and in use, as u have an aftermarket exhaust whoever fitted it might not have bothered with all of them.

Cat wont hang unless you are missing a hanger / exhaust rubber somewhere

I've done EL's method on LMG, but only cause I seem to have a williams exhaust hanger in the middle? :?
