What will it be Like ?

It's a very special car...Bought mine in 2007 and i'm as much of a fan now as i was before i bought the car. (Perhaps moreso!)

You'll either love it or hate it....It's that kind of car.

Your experience does rather sound like you'll be on here soon saying you've had a smack.
I'm sorry if this sounds like stereotyping but FWD to RWD in a car like a Vee is a big difference.

Please Please Please be gentle with it for a few weeks and lap up the admiration you'll get.
It's an amazing poser car (provided you don't have to do a 3-point turn). 8)
You don't have to welly it!

When you've got to the time when 'wellying' is necessary then make sure you're somewhere where the consequences will not involve panel bending. These have great grip but when they go....... [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Enjoy.... carefully. :race:

I don't see how personally!

Even the most experienced driver can be caught out in the wrong conditions! The only reason you'll smack the vee through driver error is in the damp...But you could easily have a shunt in any car...Driving to the conditions is key.

The V6 is a pup to drive, i lob mine about and i was 20 when i got mine...Only thing i've hit is a fox; to devastating effect too!

Enjoy and as you say, take it easy (surely everyone does at first??!)

You're right Ali ... Driver beware and simply get to know the car and learn from your mistakes ...

I remember coming towards one of my favourite dual carriageway roundabouts on the inside (left) lane at speed, cutting the apex off throttle and exiting onto the centre lane (of 3) with a sharp twitch of the steering input and full gas to induce oversteer to straighten up - which is great and easy in a turbo 4x4 ... Well it nearly ended in tears as the car went into a huge tank slap and my hands were all over the place trying to correct it and stop it spinning ... Fortunately speed scrubbed off and the benefit of a 3 lane exit is you have plenty of road to recover - which I needed !!

So needless to say I learnt respect for the fact the Vee handles differently and to throw it around and drift it like a traditional RWD car requires some additional skills I wasn't prepared to develop in the Vee !!

Previously had all FWD cars, last being Clio 182.

Just take it easy at first, your soon get rid of those stabilizers!

Only word of warning I would have for you is, You are about to start another relationship! Which like women, will require constant pampering, CASH and time, and in your case, play it cool in the honeymoon period

YOU WILL LOVE IT :race:

Like many, im not sure if I will ever sell up.

All I can say is brake in a straight line, to slow down enough to take the corner (you may get some understeer on entry) without having to lift-off (or brake, unless you left-foot brake, which I wouldn't recommend!), and then nail the throttle when coming out of the corner..............in the dry of course! Oh, and did I say "don't lift off mid-corner". Enjoy. :approve:

When you press a FWD car it understeers in most cases (ok, some snap oversteer when you're really pushing but Most u/steer).

What usually happens when a FWD driver jumps in a RWD car for the 1st time is that they push, and a bit more, and a bit more,... all OK so they're suddenly RWD experts and stop concentrating. Give it too much and call the tow truck to pull it out of the hedge.

The other different is that you can brake quite a long way into a corner with Front engine/FWD whereas rear and mid engine cars don't respond as well and to those pressing on but not concentrating can be rewarded with a visit to the same hedge.

It's just a case of appreciateing that you need to get used to is in all conditions.
Being confident of the cars abilities after hooning for a sunny week is completely different from driving it after a shower.

That's how.

He's already said he's going to take it very easy at first Andy...

At some point all of us have gone from FWD to RWD...There is only one way to get experience; is there not!

Regardless, enjoy!

I pootled home today in the dark and I just love my vee. The hum of the engine. The wide body in the mirrors. Great performance for the era it was built in. Just nice and comforting. Did 30/40miles. Popped in to see a friend and returned to the vee and just so nice the smell and warmth of the cabin. In the winter it's an absolute bonus. Parked in Tescos walked back to it what a great looking car. Totally unique by modern standards. So few built adds to the unique feeling. Special cars. And I have a bond with mine after all the crazy adventures I have been with it. Its like a best friend to me. I hope you build such an emotional relationship with your vee. Either way you will enjoy owning one.

Great story above ... I really do hope to bond with it . Well I up early now and today the day ... Picking her up this afternoon from Steve . Vee here I come :)

Enjoy Simon! If your going M1 all the way home, it will be a boring but nice easy intro to the car. They are great motorway cruisers with that big old lump in the back.

That big old bend off the M1 onto the A19 feels great in the vee :approve: :race:

Well Titanium V6 339~ sailed off today into the distance today-

Simon is probably nearly home now- with a grin like a Cheshire cat.

Best of luck

Steve
