What can you get for the average UK house price in your area. .

Jeez, thats cheap.

Although to be fair I wouldn't pay a hundred grand to live in the UK version of Beirut either :D

It's pretty grim down there, but every town has em lol! To put it into context with the other uk prices, in Redcar where I am now ya could get an immaculate huge 5 bed detached with double garage n all work done for approx 200-210k

My house is on the market now for £245k, paid £175k 3 years ago... Sadly I own 25% so not such a massive profit, but now I can afford a house of upto £350k, most likely a 4 bed, possible 5 bed ..

Lucy wants to be near town, I want larger house, with a double garage... Bet good money she will win that battle :)

We got the big style 3 bed house and the 3 car garage not far from town so it can be done...I won't tell ya the price though as I don't want to upset ya:ad:

I've never understood the British obsession with a million tiny rooms. when looking at Escape to the country or other housing shows every house needs 2-3 bedrooms and 3-4 rooms for entertaining guests and a separate tiny kitchen.
Different culture to say the least! :)
Here we often have ktichen/dining area and living room as a single large room, we do want a master bed along with a bedroom for the k

personally I think it's a bit of a status thing - people boast about the number of bedrooms they have :D

& open plan living/multiple use space wasn't really our thing til Ikea came along then our minds were..er..opened

Bit like most blokes, Bragging about having a 9" love pole... that's all well and good but it its as thin as Pencil it aint going to impress anyone.... would rather have Girth than length!! :ag:

We talk square meters instead of number of rooms. :D

Sounds similar to Norway - I stayed in an apartment there for 4 years, 63 SQM across 4 rooms

Got to agree with you there :D the GF's anti-valentine's day present was based on exactly that premise

My first apartment (shared with my wife) was 56sqm across 2 rooms, then we had 113sqm across 4 rooms, 2 baths and now 134 across 4 rooms (3 beds + living/dining/kitchen), 2 baths and a laundry room.

Kitchens too small and not enough garage space for my liking :ag: haha!

@DaveL485, you have your first complaint in your role as a slum landlord there^^

I think all these southerners ogling our house prices are going to be disappointed to find the salaries are also less! I suppose if they cut the consumption of Dom Perignon to one bottle a day they might just scrape by...

What would €240K buy you in Nigeria @jamesc ?

You would not believe it Steve the company I work for was renting apartments at 100k dollars a year for the staff. Renting. That is for a secure compound in a place called Banana Island (no really). The scum I mean contractors live in the city - this place is over the road from me:
