Much, Much more to come form yesterdays trip to Flins!

Were they decorating ???
Not like the Mrs, she got paint all over the place....

I remember seeing the promo pics of the vee back in something like 1998 with those wheels on it.

I'm so glad they changed to the oz super t's [smilie=razz.gif]

I can't wait to see some more pics [smilie=cool.gif]

same wheels are on the little model of the v6 that i have posted recently......

Oh nice bit of Renault history then :D Wouldnt mind seeing more of the yellow one out of shot too

I had those arakna wheels on my Super 1600 Prima kitted 1.6 about 5 years ago. They were tasty! Wish I had let them! Nice pictures! Was that over at Renault in Dieppe or someones garage?

@eastlmark, Remarkable that you got into that hall, normally they don't let everybody inside that building, since it is inside the secuirity gates.
Or were you attending a group visit?
Did you also get a chance to go into the workshop just outside the second gate? I'm quite a lot there to measure up all the parts I still need for my Maxi replica. There are most of the cars they also present at WSR days.

At Flins they try to preserve one model of each car produced by Renault. My favorite section is a bit further down the line of the Vee's where they store the 5 maxi's.

Yep that's it! The 5 turbo you have on that photo, or the one standing next to it, has a nice anekdote, it's the prototype version, and they wanted to display it for the Paris motorshow, I think it was 1978 or 1979, but the car wasn't ready, so they ended up displaying the car with a wooden fully flat underside, also covering big parts of the wheelarches. And at the show all those little japanese copycats at the times were taking a lot of photo's of the underside of the car. Probably wondering afterwards, how it would be possible to turn the wheels, and how limited the suspension must be.

Wonder why the bonnet is open on the liquid yellow mk 2 ?

Where is this place then?

Thats a great story :D

wonder if you know what was under the non transparant grey plastic covers they didnt even let us photo. There were 2 or 3 roughly spider shaped cars. If any of us even approached them we were warned off!

And I thought this was a large collection of F1 cars....

until I saw how many were mothballed:
Flins07046.jpg

and not only Renault, the place was full of Renault engined F1 Lotus/Williams and this Tyrell:

Even the Ford engined Benetton's are up there inherrited when Renault took over the team.
