Hi, got up early this morning to watch a sprint at Aintree backed my ph1 Clio out no probs, really looking forward to this drive, set off lost a cylinder engine light flashing so turned round backed into my drive engine covers off 8mm socket remove the front coils first, the one nearest the passenger side wow that was lucky no change in engine noise, i removed the next one for the hell of it no engine noise change! is this possible two go at the same time? as its still pretty early i don't want to be switching the motor on and off, also there was no fuel on the plugs they were bone dry, i am used to v8s when there is a missfire just remove the plugs till you find the wet one, That's my day ruined! All help appreciated, regards Alan

Yep, I've also had two coils die on me at the same time!!!! Only lucky thing was that I kept a couple spare
Hope you get it sorted soon Markal, got spares coils if needed ;)

ive also had 2 go at the same time in the past!

your lucky it looks like the 2 that have failed are on the easy bank to change

Thanks Russo, for the offer, i might take you up on it, i was concerned it was something else two coils at once, never!

Hi ColinG, thats why i thought it could be something else to pick the right coil right away my lucks not like that!

Well what can i say, fitted two new coils job done now running on all six,i still cannot believe it was the first two i picked, i also changed the plugs after i fitted the coils just to make sure that was the problem also the air filter, the one i took off was like a birds nest! i am a member of a few forums and can honestly say this is the best, regards Alan

Good news that it's only the coils Alan but the vee does get a mini service out of all this ;)
Now get out and :race: while you can :-)

Thanks guys, i notice the engine management light is on but have i read somewhere this goes out after 20 miles, just had a wash ready for a test drive and the heavens have opened so will leave it till later!!

I had two die on me last year. Just required a little more of a carefull ear. Was a pig to do as mines a ph1 and they were all on the rear bank! Glad you got it sorted as it is frustrating.

Hi, taking the trim of i found boring bit the rest went well, without this forum it would have been a lot worse, how much would i have been charged at Renault for plugs, air filter, two coils fitted?

Nice one, glad to hear you found the faulty ones so quickly.
I had THREE of the little f***ers go at the same time........and that was on my way home after I had bought the car from the previous owner!!!!!!
How lucky was that???? and it is a Ph1....one on the easy side & two on the side thats covered by the intake manifold. Got a friend to come out and assist....we sorted it out by the roadside....to a constant heckle from passers-by.....my mate and I got home at 4:00am!!......he is a proper mate and I owe him bigtime.
The engine management light went out after about 8/9 miles.
