Warning Light - Monitoring Exhaust Gas

New Member
Yesterday when out driving the Monitoring Exhaust Gas Warning Light came on (continuously) on start up this morning the light was on.

Clearly I need to do something, the hand book says - contact your RENAULT dealer ASAP.

Has anybody else had this problem?

What course of action did you follow?

Does the car sound rough? Usually an ignition coil needs replacing. The car would feel quite lumpy. See Knowledge base How to guides to change a coil.

Don't drive it far! This will soot up cats etc.

PS.

Does it have an aftermarket exhaust on it? maybe Prospeed system with no cats? if so your light will be on quite often if that's the case.

PPS.

My technical knowledge could fill up a postage stamp. ;)

James thanks for the response.

The engine could be running a little lumpy! I do not have enough driving time yet to be sure.

The car is fitted with an aftermarket Pro-Speed Exhaust as follows:-

2x 3 branch manifolds
2x 200 CPSI Sports CATS
1x rear exhaust section with 3.5 inch rolled in tail pipes

So it could well be a coil issue.

Back to the garage on Monday!

Thanks James

I have two coils on order from euro parts; collect on monday.

I will then call out the breakdown man.

The dealer had given the car a major (£1600) service, by SG motorsports, in Feb before I bought it (last week). The warning light was off until yesterday!

Regards,

Nigel
