Warm starting, ABS and speedo problems

Hi All,

Have a few issues with my vee that I would welcome any advice on.

1. It cold starts fine but takes a while to warm start, turns fine but won't fire for a while. Searching seems to suggest TDC or maybe temp sensor?

2. The ABS light and serv light come on when you get up to 50ish. Also the speedo needle seems to wander dropping to around 20 below speed and then coming back again. Searching seems to suggest the speedo is driven by an ABS sensor/ring which means these are likely connected. Is this driven by a specific corner (assuming rear)?

3. Is there a code reader or some software I can use to identify fault codes? I'm used to using VCDS for my audi which I find invaluable for stuff like this.

Thanks all [smilie=thanks.gif]

Well after more googling I'm convinced the TDC sensor needs replacing together with either an ABS sensor or reluctor ring. Looking at the service manuals I was tempted to have a go myself until I realised that the car came with 6 months warranty which is still in effect :)

As a result its now booked in at Dryclough Lane on Thursday for diags and repair. I'll report back the outcome for future users.

See members area for reluctor ring info. Normally they only come with complete new drive shaft. members_area.php

Thanks James.

Just heard from Richard and it seems my diagnosis was on the money. One of the rear reluctor rings has cracked causing the ABS issue and a fault has been flagged for the TDC sensor. Parts now on order so hopefully I'll get it back by the weekend.
