Got my self another clio 16valver and decided that i wanted to change the engine etc as it has a snapped cambelt anyway seemed a good opportunity to drop something different under the bonnet after searching on the forum i came across a volvo 480 turbo engine disscussing the price etc i bought it and cant wait for it to arrive so i can finally get on and get some work done on my car again , tmrw im taking out the fubared f7p to make way for it so i will get some eye candy up .

right got finally started work on the clio got some pics but basically got the engine out and now waiting for the volvo one to arrive cheers

the engine arrived this week so i decided to get it round to my shed little did i know its heavier than a valver lump anyway me and a couple of others managed to get it round to my shed heres a couple of pics enjoy

got the loom disconnected not very happy with this theres tons of plugs doing nothing and house hold flex has been used to connect the loom and as some of you may know it cannot hold ampage like car cable can anyway spageti junction

right finally got the looms sorted out and tarted up pics to follow of them when i drop the engine in which if i can source an rsi top mount and valverturbo come thought with the delivery of the remaining bits
anyway had a day off today due to man flu so cracked on and started to strip the car naked for fcs enjoy

and bad light has stopped play for now any way il be running starndard volvo turbo etc for fcs and stripped out interior as ive no welder ect to do my cage again and dont want to mess it up this time will be making some custom dash housing for the gauges etc and switches and stripping lots of wiring out thats not needed

right after figuring out that the williams runners have slightly different fixing holes for the seats to bolt to i had to remove the dreaded valver ones from underneath as we all know they go rusted as feck but came off sweet so while i was there i got rid of the gash heat sheild and removed the gear shifter and got the boot tidied out ready for the sound deadening to be removed enjoy

Came home to find that my rsi top mount had been delivered so thought it would be rude not to get it mounted and get the engine in place for temporary as ive got the exhaust to sort ect still heres some pics enjoy

got the engine finally fired up so i can now start to get it all back together as i didnt want to get it put togther if she wasnt running wanted to get the car cleaned out and tidied up abit as im sick of all the runnish in it got about 4 looms in it heres a few pics loom is temp until after fcs then il sort it out enjoy all comment welcome

Need to trial fit the exhaust system as i never got supplied one when i bought the engine but thats another story anyhow managed to bag a bargain off ebay £15 for down pipe and silencer for a 480t matched it up with the valver one and there very similar in shape ect only difference being the flanges it about a quarter turn out

so il have to cut the flanges and match them up as il be running valver system as i want the cat ect for mot times then il make a decat for every other day
as you can see it misses the bulk head and dog bone ect this is also due to coops solid mount as i was able to open it up and roll the engine forward slighty which in turn pulled the mani in.

bit more work on the car got the front put back together bar the front bumper but bit off cutage needed to get it over the intercooler ect

And 480 down pipe fitted to the valver flange cut and welded nice removable lambda if it ever goes wrong and some black exhasut paint will get some wrap for it also put cat on to make sure all was ok but got a silenced dcat on the way so that will be going on asap

Bolted throught the fllor with bid 6mm bolts and square plate washers had to remove the spare exhasut back box and heat shield to get to the bolts

small update after the car making it through the weekend at fcs i decided top dash needed to go in as the glare from the stripped dash was rather annoying also stripped the usless plastic bits out of the footwells gave my fusebox a diet and got rod of aux dials and heater control blocked off the center hole for the blower so that the air goes up towards the screen now and not in my eyes and got the hot/cold push pull near the column for easy adjustment and relocated the fan motor speed switch on to the top dash enjoy

right ripped out the manual boost contoller as i discovered it had an air leak which was casuing my irractic idle and it drives alot better now even though its only putting out 120bhp
sent the ecu off for chipping which will take it from 120bhp to 170bhp with no mbc needed so the car will be off the road for about a month

stripped me spare cage out and refurb a steelie and sprayed it black not 100% perfect but better looking than rat rust

bolted through the floor with some 10mm threaded rod and nuts and washers and drilled through the cross member for more strength

my strut brace hits the volvo inlet so got to flip it and cut the bottom flaps off will polish this too

yes had to cut the flange off and reverse it to get it to miss the inlet of the 480 engine

and look 3 turbos ow no just one of ants bling heat shields
modded to miss the turbo as it would of clashed with it

Got my ecu back from rich on the 480 owners club complete with a new rich mod and new program that he had to rewrite after having all his data lost car goes very well and im happy with it for the time being

will get some more pics up nxt week as done abit more strippage to rear boot no more wiper ect and will cut the skin for more weight lose bye bye sunroof and plating also cage in with harnesses
so lots too come soon i know theses things are usless with out pics so will get some up asap nxt week

And finally got my arse in gear and got my cage from the my rented garage down the road and de rusted it because when i had the fire it got snowed on thanks to the fire men clearing the hole garage but luckily not warping and its still 100% solid derusted and dw40ed up until i red oxide it and spray it still undecided on the colour was thinking maybe white?

got the interior or whats left of it out as the cage is strating to go in nxt week started by using my favourite acid nitro mors eats paint for dinner lot easier than sanding ect also gets rid of that annoying arch glue too

quick blast over with the rotory cleans it up a treat

also got rid of the sunroof and got a nice piece of alley from a work mate cut it and fitted not bad better than the sunny and no chance of leaking this will be getting painted nxt week along with the hole roof pcs to follow on this

managed to get all the basic plates welded in still got to box all the points but need to get some zebs and 8mm bolts from work tmrw before i can box them as its removable need to get the zebs welded underneath the plates

8 plates in total mirrored both sides plates nst to card board templates

and a little delivery of my new harnesses e approved snap on claspes with eye bolts also source some metal tube for my harnesses bar cheers

right after a small trip to mat browns picking up some rockers i aslo got a bargain on a fibreglass bonnet skin is very thin has a few holes from prvious bonnet pins and a about 10million pin prick holes from where the mould wasnt the best but ow well im very happy (cheers mat) anyway ive started work on it as i want it on for pod amoungst my wheels ect

Holes fibreglassed up and ive patcheed them quite thick as this is where the bonnet pins will be refixed so needs to be thick

Going to be a sweet project, u tuning it as soon as it goes in as standard volvo lumps run around 120hp as compared to the valvers 137hp

i bought a bigger turbo that will be here nxt week already t25 roller bearings also will be getting chipped and remapped wont be modding yet will be running standard volvo turbs ect for fcs then let the tunning begin
 
it's a clio thats what matters really and im intrigued to see the result and also the final output of the car
