Bought some r888 fitted fine 235/40 91y but after a track day they have started catching the coilovers springs should I have got a smaller tyre what size am I after on a 18 inch r26 rim any help would be appreciated

225/40/18 were the sizes the r26r came with if specified. 235/40/18 if a road tyre.

Can you squeeze a small spacer in there to give you some use of of the tyres?

I will have a look and see if I have enough room I'm sure there should be if not will go down the new tyre route thanks for the advice

Simulate spacers with some washers between the nuts and wheel. You can drop it on the floor so the suspension compresses and even rolling back and forth a few metres to settle the suspension. Use ONLY for assessing clearance. DO NOT drive the car normally like this.
Remember that fitting spacers would usually require longer wheel bolts unless you're down at 3mm spacers or smaller.
