Trolley Jack and axle stands

I know this has been covered before, but I want to paint my front calipers tomorrow and can't find a definitive answer. I want to know where the best position is to jack the car up using a trolley jack and the subsequent points to position the axle stands. I'll probably only do one side at a time so that it's more stable. The manual says to use the tool kit jacking points to raise the vehicle when using a trolley jack, but the axle stand position is unclear. Please help.

I don't wish to sound thick, but I can't find anything in the 2 posted links that help determine where to position both a trolley jack and an axle stand. There is still no definitive answer. A search of the forum comes up with loads of ideas but also loads of counter arguments. I just need some simple, realistic and tried and tested answers. Who has used a trolley jack and axle stands? Thanks.

use the normal jacking points on the side for the trolley jack. Once up it os obvious where to put the stands as shown in the photo's. just make sure they are under hard metal chassis, not under any bits of plastic undertray.

Do the covers have to come off to reach the axle points?

Mines been sat on axle stands for 3 weeks now, i just put them on the thickest part of the sills and one under the cross section under the front just to be sure

I always use 3/4" MDF between the axle stands and the car.

At the front I put the stands just outside of where the suspension arms are. On the chassis.

I experimented on jacking the car up at the front with a low jack, with a large jack pad without taking the trays off. Sliding the jack in direct from the front of the car.
The galvanised cross beams (looks like ally) roughtly meet where the front under tray seams cross. It does bend the tray up a bit but it pops back, has not damaged anything and you can then get 2 stands under the front quickly and without taking any trays off.

If I want it on 4 stands I do the rear first, then the front.
