TOM 00001

I know it sold with original spoiler fitted when I bought the car cover off phil he had the big spoiler in his house and had sold it on eBay.
He had heard the rumours of it being sold for 20k and had gone to Hong Kong.
need less to say he was gutted considering he swapped it for a new twingo cup.

I bet! I just don't understand why he let it go so easily.

He took a punt on a car that turned out to be a total gem, he did the hard part and he should have made a killing selling it on here or direct to a collector.

I know things aren't always as straight forward as they seem but looking from the outside I'm cringing for the lad :(

He told me he had drove it though 2 snowy winters that was very scary and just needed a everyday car
Just wish it had gone to a better home ie Brett

Yup, only he knows why he didn't whip up an add on here. He took it to a meet or 2 so there were several an here who knew it and probably would have snapped it up.

Brett had to sell up first but I expect someone had the capital to buy it quickly.

I'm not sure what I value it at but it was easily the most valuable Phase 1 IMO. That puts it into big money territory straight away.

I also half tried to buy it twice. First time when TWR sold it i convinced myself that a car that old that had never really been used was a bad idea, 2nd time when i enquired, the price was out of my reach. Still kick myself whenever its mentioned!

The interior was gorgeous, it had seats in the from a sport spider:

Beautiful car.. but 'first' prototype..? I'm not so sure... There was a yellow one on a T plate, believed to have been destroyed.

This is surely one of, if not the first prototype:

Is it not?

Or are we talking about examples that truly resembled the finished product, with the finalised bodywork?

I agree. I don't believe it was an early test car as it would have to retain the same chassis number. I reckon it was a spare shell knocking about and built up later in the ph1's production run. Put it this way, it was way too well finished to be pre-production and everything on it should have been offered as an extra on normal production car.

It is interesting to see these very early pictures and note all the subtle differences between them and the cars that eventually went into production. It's a shame that if as Shaun says the yellow car was ultimately destroyed :(.
