The first official v6clio.net track day - Cancelled!

The general idea is to arrange a track day on a date tbc in the first quarter of 2008 at Silverstone.

The format will be a sessioned track day with one 30 minute session every hour. Full mechanical support will be available which will include everything from tyre changes through to diagnostics (provided by GDi).

We would not have the entire circuit to ourselves there would be other participating on the day.

In addition we'll have our own garage (probably more than one depending on numbers) and we'll run our Gameracer setup (large screen, PS2, racing seat with TOCA so that you can practice your lines "virtually").

We can arrange for an instructor to spend the day with us for something like £150 and he'll be ours to use as the participants want (price split between the participants).

Subject to interest we could also arrange to provide a full race specification Renaultsport Spider which can be used by the participants. This is not the road going version it is an ex Spider Cup car with a Williams engine, a Sadev sequential gearbox and very trick Penske dampers all round.

So in summary we're talking about;
A track day at the internationally famous Silverstone circuit
Our own garage(s)
Technical support
"Tame" instructor
Intercoms
In garage entertainment!
And subject to interest the Renaultsport Spider (we'd divide the overall hire cost across all participants and track-club will provide a discount on the hire cost).

If people don't want to do the whole day or would like to reduce the overall cost we could look at in effect sharing a single place between 2 cars (but this needs to be confirmed).

Not wanting to put anyone off (before prices are confirmed) all i'll say is the price for the above would be well over £200 for Silverstone. An Airfield would be a cheaper option which we can look into if people want to go that way.

Post up if your interested.

... And many thanks to v6Max for assistance in setting this up. [smilie=bowdown.gif]

Cheers

Any idea of noise restrictions at Silverstone....If its 98db I can't run...Otherwise may be interested..LGN

Pretty sure that noise restrictions are 98db at Silverstone.

Silverstone run 2 types of days with regards noise; straight 98db limit and noisy days with, in theory, no limit although I've seen exceptionally noise machinery (real race cars) being told to lift off a bit to keep the noise down. I very much doubt anyone with a vee has anything which would be too noisy for the noisy days.

Hi Peter

Happy Birthday by the way! [smilie=icon_cheers.gif]

Sorry be a damp squib but the Vee handles like a squib when it's damp (or icy!).
Arguably great honing if you've a shorter travel journey, but it's too far for me at that time of year.
Is the second quater a go-er? Or is the venue to busy/pricey at that point?

Regards
Kett

Kett, having just done a another Bruntingthorpe test last week, this time on a very damp track, I would agree about your 'honing' point. The handling is different, obviously, but the fact I could actually get the tail sliding around only increased the fun and also learned a heck of a lot about the handling tendencys of these cars and how to correct it...whats more I never spun once which is more than can be said for when a dry track.
Anyhow, its the UK no matter what time of year you cannot guarantee a dry track.
