The 1957 Dope Dauphine

to be fair I joke, its a surprisingly sprightly car to drive up to 45/50ish which is plenty for keeping up with the traffic where I live (y)

Yeah I think I've read 600 to 630kg for factory weight. A shave over 40bhp and nearly 60lbft which isn't massive, propel it along ok. What's that 66bhp and nearly 100ftlb ish per tonne?

I found some cool images on somewhere on facebook which gave me the idea. I'm not actually looking for a huge increase in power (that magic 60bhp would be nice) but more the something to do using a plie of spares that I've got kicking around. The engine is low comp already, draw through turbo setup running a few lbs of boost with the timing backed off should be ok for a little gain in power (y) (he says, BOOM!)

Looks like a Ventoux engine in a 4cv, that engine bay pic, I've had impure thoughts on a simple fuel injection set up on my 750/4cv, just as a project , more to future proof it for whatever blend of fuel we end up on in ten years plus, rather than for more power.
I would imagine a single point set up could be achieved reasonably , beyond that siamesed inlets make it difficult? Or at least less beneficial.....Thinking last of A series Mini Cooper's ran two injectors as they have same head design as Ventoux???
Probably a pipe dream....

@Adey while I remember
watch out for the Carb orientation. I will get onto this on Paul's eventually but the GT Turbo carb does not work in the back of an 8 as the fuel runs away from the mainjet on corners, I will have to try a workaround on this. The Carb throttle spindle should be in line with the crank and the fuel should run away from the mainjet under braking only. If you have a look at your intended carb you will be able to figure it out.
The 4CV/ Ventoux motor above is going to have a problem on lefthanders by the look of it...............

I would of thought on a gtt/solex 32dis setup it would be a lot less of an issue with fuel being force fed into the bowl? Yes id try and keep the carb in the correct orientation on my PMT setup.

No, been there done that, and it didn't work. Check out any production car and you will see how the main jet is arranged. I don't know about the throttle spindle orientation, but it is mentioned in the Weber tuning manual and in John Passini's Weber Bibles. I think it is to do with mixture distribution inside the inlet manifold. V8 motors are the exception, but the carc is in the centre line of the motor.
If I knew for sure I would tell you.
