This is my project between now and getting on the road while i sort my driving test out over the next few weeks...
Well found a RC car on a forum begin sold localish that the kiddy would drop off to mine for £30 came with all the parts he said (but not together as he had been messing with the 4WD to make it RWD only) came with the electrics aswell so bargin i thought!
How wrong was i  there was loads missing, 1 step screw for the front hub, the part to hold the areial straight up also the to brackets to hold the battery in  i should have known better i could off bought a complete car from town for £70 brand new but hey ho i didnt loose faith begin a big kid i cracked on and looked for parts.
I already bought a tamiya sport tuned motor off ebay ( £14.58 ) before i even got the RC car and after a quick look online i decided to go find a model shop local insted and ask if they had a set of step screws
And by chance after the kiddy had gone upstairs for 5mins leaving a empty antic  he came back with four new screws and said have um mate, lovely ta, as i knew they used to stock all this 1/10 stuff i asked if maybe there was some old hop ups or shells of a retro nature hidden upstairs, he was like actually there may be
Five mins later he found me a CLK merc DTM shell bargin for a tenna!!
He also sold me a 2000mAh battery for £13
And a plastic holder for the areial £1.25
Pictures as always
As it was advertised
How i got it
Electrics as i got it - this will be changed for a ESC (electronic speed controler) so will be ditching the lot
Sport tuned motor (fitted 5mins after owning car - was happy untill i heard of brushless  )
CLK shell
I thought i had everything to make it drive now, again i was wrong the steering was not working it was making a noise but not moving, so after a strip down of the servo i found all the cogs to be stripped, so ordered one off ebay the upgraded version of what i had for £4.50.
Tried to get the piece off the old one that holds the steering arms on to have the screw super glued in! WFT WHY!! so i pulled that off and fitted it to another servo like the one that came out the car my mate gave me (hammered it on
)
So after actually getting the bits to make it run I had a play
Now things hit a whole new level of playtime :twisted:

Been busy lately, 5/4/2009 went to Bristol to meet up with some mates off another forum (D1RC) and Tom and Neal popped by aswell. Had a few race's checked out the other cars (very nice cars!) Tom and Neal both had a go on mine
John who was there had a few cars and namely was this little FWD mini (tamiya M03) which i have been after for a while! so after a few asks he got it out and boy was she quick for a standard motor!

I have also changed all the ball conectors and ball nuts to blue  also in the C hubs were plastic bushings so after i seen a bearing in the mini (tamiya 850) fitted the C hubs perfect i ordered 10 (but used for so i will work out a price of 4
) i also painted the shell real quick as i was bored of the see through ness (and the shell is fubared anyways...)
wheels, drift tires & foam bumper
ashy spec C hub bearing mod (also plastic knuckle, and blue ball nut in pic)
so i haven't added much lately just been fine tuning, lost a 3mm E clip so haven't even took it out on them wheels and tires, haven't checked the steering out either.. also still awaiting my GPM oil filled shocks (temp to get off air filled!!) and trying to get another futaba reciver and crystal so i can use both cars one or the other without swapping radio gear.

Got hold of a 19 turn motor a few days ago as i bought the Mrs a TL01 to mess around with
So stole that tried it on the tamiya ESC which shouldnt run this motor but it does just fine for now.. (the next week or so...) gone back to a 19 tooth sprocket on the motor for more torque... Got my quick realase battery holder fitted that aswell ummm then went for a few tares and boy does she fly for a lil car, raced a few real cars down the road in a 30zone as they came past nailed it from a standstill and gets infront

Took car out with new ESC on her she flies, keept throwing a front tyre off then the tyre ended up in two parts so that was game over, dog decided to jump on the radio gear aswell and broke the ariel so that was defo that! no biggy as the ariel is £5 and thats emma's problem now as im buying new kit next week...
I decided enough was enough and time to get it done without playing in between as i had no tyres to play on or radio gear!, that ment taking the ball diff out the rear and fitting it to the front, i put i new standard diff in empty for now

18/03/2009
My TT01 square input shafts arrived..

My carbon fibre prop turned up

before (steel shaft)

In between (weighing)

Next parcel i opened was my TT01 'square' locked diff locker part

(square make aftermarket parts for RC, the diff in my TL01 is the same as in the newer TT01 and instead of filling my diff with bluetac or glue or stones  i opted for the stronger more expensive less known option of using TT01 parts which ment i had to search out the uber rare 'square' diff lock and input shafts :evil: )
Standard insides of the TL01 diff (planet gears or spider gears - wherever your from

Inside 'ASHY's TL01' diff (used a brand new diff i had spare)

Fitted

I have also changed all the ball conectors and ball nuts to blue  also in the C hubs were plastic bushings so after i seen a bearing in the mini (tamiya 850) fitted the C hubs perfect i ordered 10 (but used for so i will work out a price of 4

wheels, drift tires & foam bumper

ashy spec C hub bearing mod (also plastic knuckle, and blue ball nut in pic)

so i haven't added much lately just been fine tuning, lost a 3mm E clip so haven't even took it out on them wheels and tires, haven't checked the steering out either.. also still awaiting my GPM oil filled shocks (temp to get off air filled!!) and trying to get another futaba reciver and crystal so i can use both cars one or the other without swapping radio gear.
