Starter just goes click? ph2 r19 1.7 efi

So it went from no problem at all to just a click in one drive, figured that it was a bad starter so replaced that...same problem, cleaned the engine earth wire connections and it started working all of a sudden.

For one day, now its dead again(the solenoid engages but the starter do not turn).

So im guessing that i have a electrical gremlin somewhere, anyone had this problem or know where to start looking?

Battery is new and fully charged, no lose wires as far as i can see and when its cranking it starts really easy.

The fact you cleaned up earthing wiring and it sprung back would incline me to start looking at them all, adding extra ones cleaning up terminals making sure the battery has enough power as well as voltage.

If you have put a working starter on it, it isn't the starter. Check your wiring though.

You will need to check both connections at the battery, and by check i mean remove and clean.
Next, 'check' earth at the engine block, and positive lead at the starter.
If all looks good, and you still have a click, i would suspect a bad starter solenoid.

Sooo...its alive again.
Replacing the starter was unnecessary, the positive battery clamp was cracked so the cable was loose in the clamp.

Btw, do anyone of you know of a good replacement handbrake handle? The push button flew away this past winter and no scrapyard has a lever :/
