Spacer pros and cons.

Having had wheel spacers fitted to a few of my previous cars, am now toying of going down this route again.

As per title, any pros or cons with them on a Vee? Have used the search function and that's left me even more confused than before I started looking!

Any ideas on the best sizes, links to where to buy and also bolts? Or am I best to leave well alone?

They'll only be fitted for aesthetic reasons.

I'm sure someone running spacers will comment soon. I have always thought the rear wheels need taking out on ph2, to ph1 looks slightly better resolved in that respect.
I like you have debated this but the few pics of cars running spacers I have seen I couldn't really tell. You would have to go fairly wide to really notice difference in isolation and that would have effect of shortening wheelbase thus making car more prone to wilder oversteer.
On sports maserati.com the majority swear by spacers on gran turismo for improved aesthetic and handling but the wheel base is longer than the complete Clio, even so I resisted on that as well as I'm fairly sure the engineers albeit working to a compromise, know more than most how to tune a cars suspension.

I'm as sure as you are re engineers knowing how to tune a cars suspension, hence me asking advice as opposed to blindly carrying on and spoiling the car.

Have re-read my original post to make sure I hadn't mistyped it and ended up asking for a loan of a million quid, I might have got more answers!!

#248 is running spacers at the rear. I bought the car with them on and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with the handling or ride. However I haven't had a standard car to drive to compare them to, so have no idea if it's better or worse (feels fine to me)

Drop Rossco a message as he did all the changes so will be able to offer his views and also where he bought his spacers and bolts from.

There's probably only 2 or 3 phase ones that are running spacers on 17" wheels so your probably not going to get a deluge of answers. It's going to be a bit of trial and error to find the ones you want.

A small spacer for aesthetics isn't probably going to make at notable difference for normal driving. But personally I wouldn't bother unless they are really needed - i.e. to get ph2 wheels to fit a ph1.

Good quality spacers are fine. Keep it minimal

I'm running 15mm all round and have just done the NC500, it's supreme, turnin is actually better! No cons! Looks great too.
