UPDATE from the organisers

Tickets are available at our Super Early Bird prices until 31 December (starting at just £35), so now is the best time to buy... whether it's a gift for someone or a Christmas treat for yourself! Plus, there's no need to battle the Christmas shopping crowds with this gift. Once you've bought tickets, you can download our special gift certificate here to present on the big day.

So, just over a month to go before Super Early Bird tickets are withdrawn at midnight on 31st December.

Let's get as many members signed up for us to stand a good chance of
a) having a good spot within the inner display area and
b) be granted the parade lap at lunchtime on Saturday.

UPDATE from the organisers

"Dates for the 30th anniversary Silverstone Classic are set in stone

The dates for our special anniversary event next summer have now been confirmed for the weekend of 31 July - 2 August! The date had already been announced but remained ‘provisional’ until Formula One’s governing body, the FIA, formally ratified its 2020 calendar at yesterday’s meeting of its World Motor Sport Council in Paris. This means that the Classic will take place two weeks after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Read more here.

If you haven't got your tickets yet, with Christmas on the way, dates now confirmed, and tickets still at our Super Early Bird prices there's literally no better time to buy. We hope to see you on the weekend of 31 July - 2 August!"

Super Early Bird tickets will be for sale until 31st December, so do take advantage of the reduced prices......see first post for further details.

UPDATE

Super Early Bird tickets will be withdrawn at midnight on 31st December, so get yours whist the discounted tickets are on sale - see the first post for more details.

Only 7 weeks to go before Early Bird Tickets will be withdrawn from sale at midnight on 31st March.

So far we have only 10 Vees confirmed to attend the event, a majority of those being on Saturday (1st August). Given that 2020 marks the Vee's 20th Anniversary, it would be good to have at least 25 Vees present.

Therefore, if you are intending on attending but as yet are undecided on the date can you please add your name to the provisional attendee list?

Those of you who are new to Vee ownership, and especially if you haven't been to Silverstone Classic, this is a fantastic event and an opportunity to show off your Vee and also take it around the F1 Grand Prix circuit.

Rumor has it that we may even have our own pace car this year! ;)

The rumour is the the rumour might well be true ;) ;) :race:

UPDATE

Just to remind everyone that there are only 5 weeks to go before Early Bird Tickets are withdrawn at midnight on 31st March.

Here is a taster of something we have put together to commemorate the Vee's 20th Anniversary. This 12-page booklet is a collaborative effort by a few club members (you know who you are!) who came together to create a concise narrative chronicling the development of the Clio V6 road cars. Copies will be available at Silverstone Classic 2020, so do plan to be there to collect yours.

UPDATE

I hope everyone here, and their friends and family, are keeping well.

Shown is the response I received from the organisers when I asked questions with regards to COVID-19, and whether or not the event will be either cancelled or postponed.

"We, along with the rest of the world, have been monitoring closely the developments relating to the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and following the updates and advice given by the UK Government, the World Health Organisation and other public bodies.

The latest guidance from the relevant authorities is that they cannot support mass gatherings using emergency workers and that social contact should be avoided over the forthcoming weeks and months. While COVID-19 will inevitably have some impact on the running of the Silverstone Classic, we have every confidence that it will go ahead in four months, as planned.

In the unlikely event that we have to postpone the event from its current scheduled dates, we will determine a date with the Circuit as soon as possible to which we can postpone the event and we will publish details as a matter of priority. All tickets will remain valid.

See you in July!
"

Stay safe everyone.

UPDATE

The sale of Early Bird tickets have been extended until 30th April, as confirmed via the following post on Facebook: Silverstone Classic

"In light of the current situation, we can confirm that we have extended our Early Bird period so that it now applies until the end of April. We hope to be able to welcome you to our 30th anniversary event this year."

As the organisers have stated before, all tickets will remain valid and they appear to "have every confidence that it will go ahead in four months, as planned".

UPDATE from the organisers;

"While the latest guidance from the UK Government is to stay at home over the coming weeks, we remain hopeful that the Silverstone Classic will go ahead in four months as planned, although COVID-19 may have some impact on how we run elements of the event.

We appreciate that this is an evolving situation, so in the unlikely event that we have to postpone the event from its current scheduled dates, we will determine a date with the Circuit as soon as possible to which we can postpone the event and we will publish details as a matter of priority. All tickets would remain valid.
"

The good thing is we still have hope. The government announced at yesterday's COVID-19 briefing session that the lockdown period will be reviewed every 3 weeks and that it may be extended for up to 6 months. If so, then it would be September 2020 before this event is likely to take place. Given that we will still be at the tail end of summer, I don't see a reason to pull out just yet.

UPDATE from the organises

"In light of the current situation, we have extended our Early Bird period so that it now applies until midnight on the 10th of May.

Car Club members still have until the end of May to book their display package, but from the 11th May, our Standard rather than Early Bird prices will apply."

UPDATE from the organisers.

The attached update, which details how the organisers are intending on dealing with COVID-19 situation and the impact it will have on this year's event, will be emailed to all those who have purchased tickets.

"We will make a decision on this year’s Silverstone Classic by the end of May and will be back in touch then with details of all the options available to you."

View attachment SC20 May Newsletter (13 May 2020).pdf
Excerpt from the email I received is pasted in below:
"Although this week we are seeing an easing of restrictions due to COVID-19 on our lives in England, although not in the rest of the UK, the future, of course, is still uncertain. However, we remain hopeful that this year’s Silverstone Classic can go ahead in some form and with all necessary safety precautions."

If you have any questions please PM me.

UPDATE from the organisers.

"We promised you an update before the end of May… and it is with a heavy heart that we bring you news that the 2020 Silverstone Classic will not be going ahead."

"2020 tickets
Anyone who has a ticket will have the option to roll their tickets over to the 2021 event or request a full refund. There are a number of measures we need to put in place first, but we will be back in touch with all ticket buyers in June with details of the next steps. In light of the current situation, we have a reduced team who are dealing with a high number of enquiries, so please do bear with us.

We’ll be in touch soon. In the meantime, and above all else, stay safe and healthy.
"

All those who have purchased tickets should be receiving the above communique directly from the organizers.

If you have any questions please PM me.

Sad times, but I hope you and your families are safe and well.
