Seat Belt Light On after Fitting Recaros?!?

thunderstarter

Ok this is a bit of a wierd one. I fitted my Recaro Pole Positions, new Steering wheel and Ive road tested the car over about 100 miles, all has been well, no airbag warning lights etc. I used the resistors that Steve Farman provided and had them soldered in correctly (by my bro inlaw who know how to solder properly!)

This morning I drove the car to work and remembered I hadnt put the radio code in since having the battery disconnected, so I turned the radio on whilst I was driving along and put the code in. Im not sure if this was a coincidence but immediately, the seat belt warning light lit up on the dash and the warning bong came on (the one where you forget to put your seatbelt on). My seatbelt was on. I even tried plugging in the passenger seatbelt just in case it was this that was causing the problem. it made no difference.

Maybe it was telling me not to be so bloody stupid attempting to enter the radio code whilst driving!?!?

Or is something else amiss?

Just been out in the car again, so car has been locked on the plip and unlocked and started up again. seat belt warning light is on permanently now. Is there any way of resetting it?

Strange one Dan!!!!! Can't see radio setting the unclipped seatbelt warning off but would hazard a guess with wiring under your seat, might be worth starting there.
I know my warning light came on a couple of years after fitting my Recaro's and it turned out a wire had come off the resistor connector block under drivers seat as it's not secured or very well protected!!! ( well I did have a torch and fire extinguisher under mine LOL )
I'll dig out a photo of my resistor wiring if it's any help.
Hope it's something simple and keep us posted.

Sometimes my airbag light comes on and if you wiggle the wires underthe seats it goes off again often for months at a time,

I've never heard of the actual seatbelt light coming on though! Odd one!

Well guys, big thanks to Steve, who has managed to diagnose this fault via email!

I'd managed to pinch the main black wire that comes out of the Drivers side seat belt stalk. When I mounted the seatbelt pre-tentioner onto the Recaro Frame/Seat Mount, it was inside its leather sleeve, so I never saw that Id trapped the wire against the frame, hence its squashed/pinched the wire which was shorting out. See pic below. But in order to sort it properly I'll have to take the seat back out. Doh!
