Right folks,

Ali and I are wanting to get a head start on organising some events for the club here north of the Border, so far we have managed three events that seem to have been well received and attended and it is on this that we now want to build. Focus has been on road runs but we are aware that there are others who prefer to Shine and Show so we need to try to cater for all!

Initial thoughts are that we are going to try to do two road runs again and if the last ones were anything to go by, what we are thinking about should fit the bill!

1) We are looking at the first run to be again in the Borders for a one day run on pretty much the same as last one (assuming that I can beg Peter Ibbotson to recce the routes again!) but May/early June time

2) The next one will be a bit more challenging, due t opopular request we are looking a a TWO DAY run to involve some really epic scenery and unbelievable roads!! We do need some help with ideas but we have the vestige of a plan that involves a stop over somewhere around the Isle Of Skye and a two day running mileage of around 300+ miles. Initial thoughts are a start on the east and finish on the west around Loch Lomond with a few twiddly bits in between.

Other events:

1) Ingliston Revival, apparently this went very well and there are mutterings of another one on 20th and 21st August so if we are going to attend we need to get our interest logged early and better organised than last time.

2) Local shows: there are numerous other shows such as Fraserburg Classic Car Show on Sunday 5th June and Grampian Transport Museums Speed Fest on 3rd July, anyone know of any others that they would like to consider??

That is some food for thought and now all we need to move forward on any of these is a show of interest, so come on let us know what you think and want so that we can again try to organise some slick and enjoyable days out :approve: :approve: :race: :race: :approve: :approve:

I'm more in the drive-it camp so option 1 or 2 I'd be up for. Like the idea of an over nighter and yes, Skye or anywhere in the West Highlands would be a great shout.

That said, I would maybe commit to one static show e.g. Ingliston as part of a club display. They also have a show called Motormania in Grantown on Spey which seems well attended each year. Been meaning to take a look for a couple of years now but not got there yet.

Watching with interest...

First off. Many thanks to all that attended meets in 2015! There is little point in organising runs if nobody turns up! We were delighted to have so many folk attend both runs, including a number of Engerlandish members who made the trips north! Long may it continue.

That said, minor moan would be the lack of responses to many PM's sent between us. We organise these runs for you on behalf of the club and look to you for feedback and responses; even if it's a no thanks. We're recognise that the dates aren't always going to suit all.

So, with 2016 on the horizon, can I implore you to respond soonest to PM's, thus helping us plan our runs more effectively. This is a team effort!

Thanks in advance.

Really enjoyed the borders run this year I thought the whole day was superb! Would have been better for being a Saturday as said previously so people don't start getting itchy feet as the day goes on and alarm clocks set early for Monday morning :(

The absolute best day / weekend I've ever had with my Clio V6 was the 2014 Scottish run which we stayed at Blairgowrie so I'm also very keen for an epic 2 day Isle of sky event!

I must say a huge thanks to Ali and Simon as there is a lot of organising goes into these things and it really shows with how well the days turn out and they are always really helpful in trying to work out the events with my possible weekends off, it's a complete nightmare for me to swap a weekend at work so this is genuinely appreciated guys :)

if someone can recommend a place in scotland to do the following im all in

Properly fit 2 x recaro with harnesses to the bulkhead with eye bolts
Rewire back lights
MOT
Gearbox oil
Full service

I'm up for all and anything really, as long as I can make it I'm there.

Overnighter and Ingliston should be first to arrange imo.

As always if any help is required I'd be happy to get involved.

Another one to maybe look at is Kames (East Ayrshire car club home)? It has a little sprint track for those that wish and I'm sure they have shows throughout the year.

We'll get to as much as we can... Borders run was epic, so get working on Peter for 2016!, west to east run sounds very promising as well....prefer pedalling to polishing!... (And we get to a few static shows locally down here). Looking forward to next year already!

Bit late to the party with this reply but there just aren't enough hours in the day for me just now [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Personally I've found both previous runs that I've been on to be great days out. Thoroughly enjoyable both with company and being able to throw the cars about a bit on some cracking roads.
Having never really been on anything similar (it's always been static shows over the years), its been great to have a good old fashioned hoon around the black stuff.

Good Morning,
A rather late reply from a new member / owner. I, too would be very interested in the Borders Run as long as I could fit it in around other motor sport commitments. Whilst I live in Oxfordshire, I was taken from Yorkshire to Leith Church, in Edinburgh, to be christened. My late parents retired to Dalbeattie and my brother is an Edinburgh vet so I am quite at home in and appreciate the majesty of the area and could combine visits to friends / relatives at both ends of the run. A Saturday would be better for me also.

Season's Greetings!

Simon

Have we got dates in mind for this year, my year is very quickly filling up and I'd like to get the vee out in between it all. Very Keen for this Skye trip to happen?

Hi Iain,

originally looking for a Saturday run early on April/May time in the borders again, Peter has been out recceing routes already!! We just need people to give an indication of some preferred dates, likewise later in the year, two day run will need quite a bit of planning, Ali and I are going to be getting together now that we have the festive season out of the way to put some flesh on the bones. Initially looking like a two start points on Day 1 (Aberdeen and Perth??) and meet up Aviemore then head up and along Loch Ness aiming for Fort William, Day 2 Skye and west coast finishing Glasgow/Loch Lomond sort of area.
Ingliston interest will determine whether I stop in Scotland or head to Goodwood and ORS, though we should try and give ORS as much support as possible and campaign to bring it further north!!

As always, thoughts please

Hi everybody. Looking forward to seeing you all again on the borders run. as Simon and Ali have mentioned getting a date sorted sooner rather than later would allow more time to organise both an excellent drive but also an enjoyable sat evening, for those who can stay over. Still havent managed to own a V6 but am looking forward to the experiance( even for 1 day)that you all enjoy on a regular basis. Peter

Looking at dates for the run and have decided that saturday is probably preferable as we can have a social do after the event , then head home the following day (sunday) in leisurely fashion

Ali and I have put the following forward as we are available for them all, can you look to see which fit best and come back with preferences please. We have sensible accommodation available where we intend to start and finish so we will pm details of that later once we have numbers in place :approve:

Dates as follows:
2nd April

16th April

7th May

21st May

Please let us know availability, sooner rather than later

I'm going to say 21st May for us... Baby is due around the 20th April so that month is literally not an option! So the 21st happens to be the furthest away date and also my weekend off so should be able to sort something out....
