Clio S/C ph1 172 boost bus

finally got a ph 1 fuel set up sorted, now need to trim it and fit a walbro 225 pump

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_01_10222131_zps98082d6f.webp

also in the process of clearing out my room and i found theses :weary: and tried them on

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_01_10210319_zps49a3e155.webp

look total gash compared to ph 2 lights

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_01_10205918_zps7baa69cb.webp

does anyone know the part number for a megane crank pulley with the woodruff key in it?

have searched on here just cant seem to find it

now on a course for a year, so car has sort of hit a stand still

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_02_07112245_zpsc56cfc56.webp

hence the dust / dirt

although started on sorting my inlet out, had a rough idea of what i wanted

so bought this as a start

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_T2e2a699957c20cd0ce8cf06952b898c888.webp

gtir inlet, plan is to make a manifold adapter to fit the head with injector bosses welded on

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_T2eed3538f7280322fb7615f687c2411b20.webp

hopefully end up with something like this ^

Progress at last

Finally managed to get the head done

It needed all the valve guides replacing ........£££

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_10_17211539_zps8550b327.webp

fitted with the supertech valves and springs

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_10_17211606_zps2c3d4aed.webp

cost far more than i was expecting, but at least i now have an almost spankers new head as a base line to start from

So just opened the head up for re-assembly

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_10_19160137_zps67ed195b.webp

seems to be some bits missing .........f#%k sake

best be getting on the phone then

so today sorted out the fuel pump as it needed doing, done a very short guide in case any one needs a rough idea

first off removed the old pump ( this is for a ph 1 pump btw ph2 is slightly harder)

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_11_29160213_zpsfa47c3c9.webp

a little smaller than the walbro 225

trial fitted the new pump but because it is larger the bottom metal retainer would not fit, so had to modify the rubber retainer rings

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_11_29160316_zps7c783eb4.webp

putting a few cuts in them allows the ring to slide further down the pump

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_11_29160449_zpsbba55966.webp

this helps it fit in perfect so that you can get the metal retainer and bottom rubber in

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_11_29163255_zpsb6c9cb55.webp

so now that it all fits in i tried to get the fuel pipes connected, i re used the one on the pump as the rubber one with the kit is gash, just be careful when removing it if you want to re use it as you can see i trashed it a bit, the cable is a direct fit to the pump so no need for the one supplied

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_11_29161120_zps22f2ef12.webp

once that was all fitted, i then reused the filter bag that came with the pump as the one that comes with the kit is too big and needed to be manipulated to fit in

make sure to squash the pump down to ensure everything fits when compressed with no chafing of cables / hoses ect

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2013_11_29163952_zpscf1c98ed.webp

job done put it back in test it works

So due to the car being sat outside in the crap weather with all sorts of sand and general years of muck
i figured I should clean out the drains under the wipers as after a bit of rain I was getting a fair bit of water inside

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_image_zpscca07198.webp

so stripped it down a bit and done a few bits

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_image_zps50f526e8.webp

wish I took a pic of how much crap I took out must have been 10+ years worth of grit in there

been a long time since i updated this, nothing major today

started labeling up my engine loom and figuring out whats what and what i do not need (big black c**k shape ) - fk me never again

+++ handy hint +++ label it up as you remove it

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_E50f9a433b525b9c62da912afc32d5dc4c2.webp

also got my 225 fuel pump fitted in place and sorted my crap attempt at aero catching my front bumper ala cable tied

quick one of the fuses so i remember when putting it back together

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_C33568e135e808c4533cb060002325e3711.webp

This week I decided to get rid of my power steering, going to keep the pump just will not be connected, will be a little bit harder to drive at below 15-20 mph but I can live with that

its also to help keep everything looking clean, will also help to have less fluids running around the bay, less things to go wrong

anyway started with this
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2D641c9b685a210c68f885dcb3b9e07fb1f.webp

pipes everywhere

Cut this lot out
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_988407aaca415e7391cc200ad2b9ef71e9d.webp

Then used a little bit of pipe to seal the system up, added a little fluid to top up the pipe
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_3AD6e19c64b56a04e5536177560683ce998.webp

Looks a fair bit cleaner with just a little bit of pipe hanging down behind heat shield
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_5A56104bc19e1f9206cde96ead2d21efa26.webp

Got round to throwing my lightened flywheel on the scales

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_0ACc24dfdec47ad0e7f7fea9262639a7067.webp

not to bad, standard is 5.5kg

decide i am going to keep the power steering pump (at least until i figure out a better idea ) saves messing about trying to find different size aux belts ect
so sealed it off to keep fluid inside to lubricate and cool the pump, as without it would destroy itself fairly quickly

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_481b6cda4d1ad422cbe288bca884f4f5aa2.webp

not great but functional until i make something like the pure motorsport kit using the standard pulley

http://www.pure-motorsport.co.uk/details.php?itemid=168&model=-1

Got the block re bored and re honed this week

forged rods and cosworth pistons, heavy duty bearings so almost good to put it together

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_E74eb04c4b1b157409413b9761539a46bdc.webp

Off on paternity leave for next 3 weeks, so no doubt will take a while

so main effort for tonight was to get to the point of sump on

started off by checking the oil pump for gunge, and checking all teeth , i deburred the oil inlet slightly as it was not a great casting and do not want any of that breaking off
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_053fe99454ba4aa4e1a8ed78796438d7b22.webp

at least the pump looks clean, got all the seals done too so quite a productive night, hopefully the rear crank seal stays sealed
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_BB997ab42fcd9ec9d67711d310a5b19cd50.webp

so left it for another night, really need to get it cleaned and painted looks rough as arse but tbh no one will see much of it
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_A7B78ec954a5f1af49a4c1f977d448f1e98.webp

today i gave it a good layer of VHT paint ( halfords own brand )
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_C4358a1707c4123764358dad95a06e5ba4a.webp

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_BDC8f45d571b75d741edf14c19c57fd94c0.webp

and got some pulleys back on the engine, bit of trial and error at the moment as unsure on what bracket/mounts i will be using for charger

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_7FF1e0e336de153ac784b292afb49d80520.webp

now have 2 weeks at home with my little boy so will be packed away till then

Today i had a go at building up my Omex supercharger brackets just to see the design lay out and tbh its rubbish, really shocked that they designed this way

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_FFE5dda9f1cac56456abca6b3b8d13b58bd.webp

as you can see this one has already cracked and been welded back up, this is how it looks all set up (DannyR's car iirc)
so alternator is only supported through the left hand lug, no wonder they kept breaking, hence the weld

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_1279629f_zps705dc6d7.webp

so now looking at the K tec bracket design

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_2043291df50ecd04a350439e1fb12ec15c7.webp

phoned them today and they want ....£250 + vat lol so 300 for some ali brackets

off to make my own out of steel in next couple of weeks

@Marinemackay2003
so done a little bit of reading and chatting to a few members and got some pics of one of them
these are the K-tec racing supercharger mounnts
Hay bud, as discussed....photos...hope these help.

i1260.photobucket.com_albums_ii568_cub172_image5_zpsbacf1e28.webp

You can see clearly where they have worn away / warped the bolt holes under load. The worst is the very 'thin' bolt hole in photo 2 and 3. Close to snapping when it came off the car. I have new k-tec brackets (didn't buy them) but i'm going to speak to @Dan@SJM about the potential for a repeat performance tomorrow when he is fitting the kit.
Came off Dom's BG so had about 16k miles I think.

here is the one i will take a template from
again you can see some of the damage and the crack that cost Tom an engine

i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_40D48ede3e6b3aedf208a29d7da912330dd.webp

i think most of this will be sorted by making it from steel rather than aluminium

some recent random updates

got my gearbox back, so gave it a quick clean and decided to paint it in vht black, looks much better
Before
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_0909071e7b317acea8f285f1f726aea0b4c.webp

After
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_954542a31d755bcce9bf3e615f030d1bb3f.webp

also bought some headbolts from Eurocarparts for £28 -Bargain
i was worried about getting a base map, start up calibration for the Omex 600, But after a little search on here, i found out that Omex will make you one for free
Result
So if any one wants a base map for a forged, Supercharged clio on 630cc injectors with a 3 bar map sensor pm me

Currently in Norway for 6 weeks with work, cant wait to get back to start putting it all together

Been slowly buying a few bits whilst in Norway, got back today to get it all
i660.photobucket.com_albums_uu322_marinemackay2003_rebuild_FE29b208c66ffc6679569c16a25f53d7958.webp

some steering rack bushes, and a 3 bar map sensor from brands hatch performance, seems like they have the best after market copies of the original Weber Marelli sensors,
now to wire it in to an omex

also bought a megane crank pulley but not the bolt ( idiot ) and the head bolts arrived, so now i need my timing tools back @Chi and can make a well well over due start at bolting it together
