Clio Ricardo's Liquid Yellow 200 EDC

Arrived in Adenau town early afternoon to our place of residence, Comfy Cottage. Exactly that a small semi detached cottage to ourselves to come and go as we please, cosy and small but enough space for 2. It has a parking space at the back which was nice for the Clio as it was off street. Clio unpacked we headed straight to the Nurburgring to meet up with the usual suspects, as it was dry Mart and I headed out for a, ahem.... Gentile first lap. Straight on it which uncovered a problem within 3 miles of the lap. The brakes were juddering, the newly fitted pads just weren't up to the harsh braking from well over 120mph, to be fair I'm glad it happened as the Nurburgring highlighted the need to upgrade. I have the say that was THE only thing that happened with the Clio in the 4 days away, the speed and braking differences between the Nurburgring and UK tracks are quite big. It's done 3 trackdays in 2017 without a problem but I'll definitely going Ferodo DS1.11 pads.

I did 2 laps on the Saturday then headed back to comfy cottage. As it was a reunion and anniversary we had tables booked at the local restaurant so Saturday evening was spent catching up with good friends not seen in years over food and plenty of beer.

Sunday

The weather was unpredictable, rain in varying degrees of strength between sunny spells. We were lucky to squeeze in the 2 laps the evening before but today was worse. Lunch in Adenau then headed back to the Nurburgring to have a mooch about then pick what seemed like the best time to go out for one final lap. It rained in the morning but had stopped for 2-3 hours around lunchtime, people had started going out and a dry path formed. It would never be 100% dry but enough to have a half decent go ( with the odd brake judder) so i went out... Perfect, speeding through the 14 mile landscape you could see the black clouds quickly heading our way and sure enough 15 minutes after the last lap the heavens opened in a big way! Driving rain, done! That was it for me I was happy enough to do just the 3 laps, it highlighted the many good things about the Clio and the one thing I can address. After a warm coffee or 2 and a chat we headed back to base to chill before going out for the evening.... The beautiful Pistenklause for steak on a stone

10 years on this is the hotel we all stayed in for our very first Nurburgring trip. Plenty of good memories

Monday we head back towards Calais, with plenty of time on our hands we hit the scenic route back trying to avoid the motorway

A really good 4 day break away, again full of confidence in the Clio even with the brake judder issue. This now prompts me into writing a to do list for 2018, I want it to be a year of focusing more on trackdays which means a handful of subtle changes to come.

memorys of gunters place are awesome. gutted i didnt make it back. i stopped in room 13 both times we stopped there.

Almost up to date!

Always at the back of my mind was the fact that although I've had all the machining done to the wheels I've not actually given them a road test. So killing 2 birds I popped over to my sisters where the wheels are to not only fit them but to take some measurements and also weigh the 2 wheels for a comparison.

So a nice Sunday morning trip out to North Weald airfield to meet up with friends and have a decent full english. 100 miles and all the wheel bolts are still torqued nicely, no rubbing, no vibration, I say success!

Oh, forgot to mention mid November 2017 I paid a deposit for a copy of the Cup spoiler fitted to the Clio Cup race cars. I've been messaging the chap who's been dealing with them and fingers crossed it should be ready in the next couple of weeks
