resetting clutch adjuster

just wondered how to do this because after changing the clutch cable the biting point is lower than before and after putting in the first time i heard the ratchet tighten but then realised i hadn't put it through the guide so i took the end out of the clutch fork depressed the peddle got the cable out then put it through the guide and fit as its supposed to but it never self adjusted again, im sure the main man Chris H will know and alot of 19 owners aswell because from what i have read its a pain in the arse.

I think he realises that Ben, his point is that it's notworking and he wants to know why.

Did you actually remove the pedal, or leave it in place when you changed the cable?

i left the peddle in place didnt want to fiddle with it any more, i just read somewhere in the archives that u can reset the ratchet thats all

yeah i have pumped it quite a few times its drivable but the biting point is so low thats all, is there a wa to loosen the ratchet and then make it tighten again

just pull the arm pivot down, if you have pressed it a few times and no chance though it means

A - new cable needed
B - ratchet has lost some teeth

here is all the information then i hope it will help me sought out the problem about the clutch cable, i have had a new clutch about 10 000 miles ago so that shouldnt be a problem, before i had a new clutch the biting point was quite high and only had to touch it to stop it biting so when the new clutch went in the biting point was alot lower but high enough to totally disengage the clutch and felt about right but when the clutch cable snapped 10 days ago and replaced with a new one from GSF the biting point is even lower now and hard to get into gear 4 times out of 10 with my foot flat down, cant see any missing teeth on the ratchet and seems to be working i suppose so my dilemma is 1 can the cable be too long, 2 can the routing of the cable affect it from working properly, 3 can the ratchet be at the most tight position so cant go any further to tighten it up. with the cable in the fork at the gear box i can pull it 5 cm past the fork maybe a little more than that, any more advice would be a great help, had no reply from anyone and just wanting some advice please

get a cable from renault.

it shoudl be able to pull it at the box like you said, however 5cm is excessive and you need a new pedal as the adjuster is buggered which is why it will pull out so much.
