Replacing Battery

Hi Guys,

I am taking my car for its MOT tomorrow (had to re-schedule due to dead battery).

I need to replace the battery. Having read various guides, it appears very simple, but I was wondering if there was any advice/things to be aware of in particular when replacing the Vee battery?

Any specific tools required etc?

There isn't a great deal in the tech manual.

To remove the battery:
– remove the cover,
– disconnect the terminals,
– remove the bolt and the clamp bracket,
– remove the battery.

I would add a small tip to take note of any radio code you may have, to input on reconnection.

Please let us know what battery you fit and its specs.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I fitted this battery. Pretty much identical one (OEM Part). Wasn't too much hassle really.

The only thing I will say to be careful with is when removing the battery clamp, make sure you hold onto the bolt under the battery tray. Otherwise it could fall away under the car/get caught somewhere in the front! It didn't happen to me but i could see it happening quite easily!

Is it the same measurements as a Vee battery?
How much delivered?

I ask these questions on behalf of everyone including those members who might have no idea how to fit a battery. A direct swap would pose no fitting issues for them.

Right the positive is on the right if both terminals are facing you, the measurements are 278mm long x 175 x 175 high. 72Ah 680a.

The only thing I will say to be careful with is when removing the battery clamp, make sure you hold onto the bolt under the battery tray. Otherwise it could fall away under the car/get caught somewhere in the front! It didn't happen to me but i could see it happening quite easily!

Off to Halfords to by some spanners first. You might well get a PM.

So far so good, the 8mm bolts retaining the battery terminals have been loosened, Removed terminals.

The 13mm bolt holding the clamp/bracket has been removed. The nut it screwed into is captive (welded to the battery tray) so just the bolt to unscrew.

Once a kind strong man has come along to lift the battery out for me, I am all set to reverse the process.

A little saftey advice, don't measure the size of your battery with a metal tape! yep, seen it done, BIG FLASH BANG!
