Renovation underway

MrBlueSky

New Member
Wasn't sure how to title this or what section to drop it in, so hope not offending anyone.
Anyway, after nearly 20 years of ownership, the last 4 being sat in various garages unused, I've made the call to get MrBlueSky renovated. He' remained completely standard till now so plan is to generally stay with that where possible, the only exception for now being a Spike janspeed which has been in the loft for a few years.
I'm hoping to get a clean tidy finish and mechanically spot on, without making something too good to drive.
He's gone north rather than south, to Sandy at Avantime Restorations, so I'm hoping his knowledge of general frenchies of this generation and the V6 engine in particular give him an advantage for navigating whatever comes up. He has a Vee as well so hopefully a good fit for him.
Will keep you all informed of progress but I believe he might post on his own facebook.

Yes indeed, he seems to have become the go to guy for Avantimes in the UK and everyone talks highly of both his work and approach.
He was telling me he's had something like 67 of them.
If my old Espace wasn't so damn useful I'd definitely be tempted by one.

I had a Sandy Avantime.

Looks really nice. How did you find it. I can see myself in one at some point.

Sandy did a good job on the resto. I love the style of the Avantime. The airy feeling when driving the car cos of all the glass area was great. Great motorway cruiser. Elderly family members found getting out of the back seats to be clumsy and awkward. I'd have one back if I had somewhere to store it as it won't fit a modern domestic garage, while a V6 does just. It's an underpriced, under appreciated very stylish quirky modern classic

You've just confirmed all my suspicions. Might try and get Sandy to give me a look round his when I'm picking up the Vee

Good choice, only about 5 minutes from where I live! Sandy is a perfectionist :approve:

Indeed. I'm really pleased he agreed to take it on because he clearly has plenty of work with the Avantimes due to his excellent reputation with them, and what's more he knows all the parts to have pre-renovated and on hand.
The Vee on the other hand, is likely to throw up some unobtanium!
On that note, I've sent you a pm about the ball joints.
regards
David
