Hi all,
Long time reader first time poster hoping to get more involved in the community
I have a Mk3 Laguna GT205 with a noisy PK4 gearbox, although I'm not 100% on which exact variant of the PK4 it is. Rather than just slapping a new set of bearings in and calling it a day, I'm thinking of taking this opportunity and replacing it with a PK4 018 from a Mk3 Megane RS with the LSD.
With them both being PK4s I presume the casings are the same, but what about the adapter plates on the engine? Mine is the F4RT 800. Also anything else to think about, clutch hydraulics, mountings etc that will need swapping over? I guess once I have the boxes side by side I can swap around any parts that are needed. Will my driveshafts mate up to the splines in the LSD box?
Also, one final thing... in previous gearbox rebuilds for other cars I've always tried to use steel caged bearings for a bit more longevity but can't find anyone doing this for the Renault boxes. Do people generally just use Renault OEM bearings again when rebuilding or should I look into steel caged versions?
Sorry, lots of questions threre but many thanks for any responses!
