Renix diagnostics plug

Hey

Does anyone have the pinout for the diagnostics plug on a Renix-managed engine?

I know some of it's sensor connectors, rpm etc, but is there any serial data going on in there?

Renix is just renamed Fenix. Is it injection? if so then live data will stream from it just liek the big talk in gen chat about the usb thing.

I'd read through that thread back in February then forgotten about it.

I didn't realise it had progressed so far! Thanks for the info BTW. I'm going to have to go look at how different it is to mine. I have a pair of diagnostic plugs under the bonnet next to each other...

Yes, it is injection. I'll have to start poking about with the multimeter to find out where everything goes, because the plug on mine has a big bunch of feeds directly from sensors and other places (coil lead etc) so that's why I wasn't sure if it had any serial data available :)

That's the diagnostics plugs in my engine bay, as they are attached to the bracket. B is to the front of the car.

This is what I was able to gauge probing all the plugs in the engine bay:

Failing that once I get it running I can probe those pins with my oscilloscope to see what's present.

Just thinking about this... arent American cars more strict on the diagnostic info (i.e. they provide more information) for like the annual SMOG testing etc... Not sure if Renault would have had to changed something to allow for these different tests - is this why youve got a different connector layout to the 12-pin connector I've seen over here on R19s etc..?
 
thats what I'm checking for Matt, over there they just plug it in and if the stf or ltf is way out they won't even bother with the roller test.
 
This makes me think it would be interesting to have a play with an american fenix/renix ECU, i wonder if the output data stream is longer... certainly the R19 data stream has no mention of ltf or stf values
 
I doubt that one would either tbh, all obd1 on stuff does though and thats what I was referring to when I said they just plug em in and check the values.
 
Ah i'm not sure what car Phil is referring too... i was under the impression they had 19s or something over there with the diagnostic connector he pictured above! Aye can definitely get more data through OBDII had a play with that on Volkies got a USB adapter kicking about somewhere.
 
Chris, 1987 GTA (R9) 2.0

Might well be different (it's designed to run on 89R+M / 91RON petrol and has a different head design to its European counterparts), but being pre-OBDII nowhere here has plugins for it for annual testing.

The smog laws did mean it's only certified 49-state, can't get a tag for California (That's why the 1.4 was multi-point injection) but here, the age of it the testers pass it if it can actually get to the test station...

Mine appears to read from the following: engine coolant temp, intake manifold temp, knock sensor, oxygen sensor, throttle position, manifold absolute pressure, crank position.

Genuine AMC test sets are thin on the ground and expensive now on ebay so depending on cost, you might have a winner here, the GTA has a small cult following, similar to the 5 and 19 there.

problem I'm having is everything I have covers euro cars! and they don't have this plug.

Still might get lucky
