Other ( non boosted Renault ) Renault Safrane ignition issue.

Problem.
I’ve got a 1994 Renault Safrane 2.2Vi with a really peculiar issue. Upon connecting the battery the ignition lights come on without even putting the key in. The key also no longer communicates with the car meaning that I can’t disable the immobiliser. I’ll leave a clip down below which will hopefully visualise the situation.
Any insights would be very appreciated.
Renault Safranes are just something else…

Have you tried locking and unlocking the doors a few times using the button on the key? Might reset the immobiliser.

That’s what I’ve tried before. However, the key no longer seems to communicate with the car, meaning I can’t lock or unlock it remotely.

This might be a stupid question but have you checked the battery in the key?

I changed the battery not long after it started doing this. Made no difference.
