renault 19 brake system non abs

You mean there's not enough room to accommodate the master cylinder or just not enough room to get it down there?

Got any photos?

ye,as you recommended i got the whole lot incl. pedal box.struggling to get old gear out to fit new.thanks

Now I'm confused... have you removed the old ABS gear or not? If you haven't then how do you know there's not enough room for the non ABS master cylinder?

Well, we did say it may or may not be possible with the engine in.

Can you undo the engine mounts and just shift the engine forward in the bay to make clearance?

Dont forget you dont need any of the ABS bits any more so feel free to have at it with a hacksaw, hammer etc!

unbolting the rear mount and exhaust downpipe will let the engine pivot up a good bit to allow access as Neal said.

As he also said destroying the old stuff on removal is fine.

hi again. nearly there, regarding the 4 holes on the mastercylinder and the 4 pipes does anyone know which goes where?thanks

There's no specific need to follow any rule for which corner to which hole but as long as you have a diagonal split in the system - that's to say each front is paired with its opposite rear (so connected to the opposite lateral hole on the master cylinder) then it's fine

Help Renault 19 problems

Can anyone help?
Someone was kind enough to list the parts needed to replace a Bendix abs with a non abs system. I have managed to source the parts and get them to the garage but the mechanic is uncertain what to do. He is saying there is a bar missing between the pedal box and servo???
The car has been in the garage since Easter and my son needs it finished urgently.
Would anyone be willing to speak direct to the mechanic?

Help please.......

I assume your mechanic thinks the master and servo are meant to be on the nearside? He's wrong, find a better mechanic.
