Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Finally took the plunge and splashed out on a hugely expensive box of bloody hose clips for that full OE look:

Now I’ve bought them though, I’m chuffed to bits with them!! They work really well when you have the right tools and pick the right sized one for the application.

I fitted the fuel pressure regulator and associated hoses at the front of the engine bay:

The first piece of permanent wiring went back into the car tonight!! (Exciting stuff!!)

I totally re-made the near side front chassis rail wiring loom from the dashboard to the front near-side corner of the car. The loom contains headlight, indicator, brake pad warning light and AEI Connector... (I think.. ) 🤔

Had a great day on the 11 today...

Following the Royal FAFF with the Anti Roll Bar bushes, I had a real stroke of luck as some guy was selling a complete set of old stock parts on eBay with the matching part numbers to the one I got from my old Renault 11 Parts Catalogue. So I took a punt, and they soon arrived. As you can see, they're very different from the one I had..

So following a couple of hours fighting and swearing.. I got them onto the subframe:

If you look closely, you can see that the bushes sure took a bit of hammer to get into that state... as they're nearly deformed... but I compared them to the pictures I took when I removed them... and low and behold... they were the same... so lets guess that "They're all like that mate...?!"

With the bushes then fitted, I decided that the subframe needed another coat of paint as the powdercoating has chipped off a little bit in places.. and wasn't looking it's best.. so It was into the garden and a few coats of paint applied:P1170457.webp

Finally I could then properly mount the subframe back into the car Permanently..

Then wishbones on:

Then with the help of the jack... I pushed the car back.....

Now the Engine is back in, I'm now busy making the engine wiring loom actually FIT the engine... rather than just fill up the engine bay!! You can see as the Photo's continue, I'm simplifying it, and getting it ready for the braiding to go on... soon!!

To ensure I'm running it in the correct locations, I fitted the air filter bracket, and associated supports:

It's amazing when you start studying it, you can see the intended route for the loom lay itself out to you, by all of the small 6mm holes that are looking for the OE clips and brackets to hold the loom!
