Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Regular visitors to this thread... I'd like your thoughts & feedback..

This is what the original R11 Turbo seat cloth looks like:

134862

I've been looking at options to replace this lot, and thru a trimmer, was directed to THIS WEBSITE. (Warning! Many hours can be spent looking to see if your old car upholstery is on there!!)

Anyway, following a good look through the website, the best options I can see are:

OPTION 1)
134865

OPTION 2)
134864

OPTION 3)
134866

Or I'm thinking a little bit "different" but still OE (of sorts) could be the original interior from the Sucessor to the R11 Turbo, the R19 16V Phase 1..?

OPTION 4)
134863134867

Can you please give me some feedback with your recommendation 1 - 4?

Thanks for reading :)

Closest to OE, Option 2.

The R9/11 passenger "Sex seat" is one of the best car seats ever made. Fond memories.

What Dave said.

On the 8th February:

1587 Mary, Queen of Scots is beheaded in Fotheringhay Castle for her alleged part in the conspiracy to usurp Elizabeth I
1952 Elizabeth becomes Queen of England after her father, King George VI, dies
2019 MY BLOODY R11 TURBO RETURNED FROM THE BODY SHOP!!!

She’s like a drowned rat thanks to the sh1tty weather, but she’s home!!!!

LETS GO!!

All that fresh paint . Bet your glad to see it back. Last time I had shell painted I stood and looked at for an hour before I plucked up the courage to actually lay a spanner on it but once I got going I couldn’t stop and went home for breakfast the next morning.

Looks beaut, really pleased for you.
Re interior.....OE all the way, 19 16V cloth belongs in a 19.
If it was a cheapo seat swop just cos you had them, fair enough, but you're punching for such high standards, I think it deserves sexy OE velour.
I'm not a rivet counter, all for upgrades, EFi etc crack on.

I was wheeling it back into the garage talking to the guy who delivered it for me and it very nearly scratched itself on the garage door post!!! :stop.gif: Thankfully I stopped it with about 3mm to go!!

I've couldn't resist to just nip out there for 10 minutes and mop up some of the water inside the car with some blue roll. The paintwork on the outside looks bloody amazing! Can't see any Orange Peel! Just pure polished perfection!! 😍

Looks like I'm going to have to try & get some made then... 🤦‍♂️

The seats in picture look pretty mint to my old weld flashed eyes..............good clean up, if you've got spares, some new foam if needed, rob a passenger seat for fresher material ??
Rather that then lay out for nearly/but not correct re trim.....I'd go for some cow if you're trimming.

Close shaves just keeps you on your toes . I towed my 11 back from the body shop on a straight bar . In stationary traffic in the town we had a bloke( who didn’t see the bar ) try to nip through , he tripped face planted and all I was worried about was my paint work . Your shots of the 11 in the garage take me back . Mended mine in 91 struggled with a 3 door rear bumper back then and the side trims I went with grey ones with the chrome inserts rather then paint and orange/red . I have my old man hunting for a photo as we speak .

Just for a laugh, I thought I would work out how long it took for me to get the car painted:

15th August 2014, The 11 Came out of the garage and onto the trailer to go to the blasters:
135271

25th October 2014 The car was picked up from the Blasters and transported to the Welders: 72 DAYS
135290

31st October 2014, Car came back to me to start the sealing up and preparation for painting 77 Days
135291

15th April 2016, Car wheeled out of the garage now it's all sealed up and ready for the bodyshop: 610 Days (1 Year 8 Months)
135292

19th November 2016, Car removed from first bodyshop after massive bun-fight: 828 Days (2 Years, 3 Months, 5 Days)
135293

Can't seem to find a picture at the moment of the car going to the 2nd bodyshop..?

8th February 2019, Car returns from Bodyshop fully painted! 1639 Days! (4 Years, 5 months and 25 Days!)
