Renault 11 Turbo Phase 2 Restoration

Agreed the next time I will go over will be at the end of May for another progress update so looks like you're going to have to wait patiently like me :dw:
E-mailed the body-shop last week asking if it was worth me popping over this Saturday for an update and they confirmed.. so yesterday off I went to Melton Mowbray & found this:
IMG_4969.webp IMG_4971.webp IMG_4972.webp IMG_4975.webp I'm thankful I e-mailed them to inform them I was planning a trip over, otherwise I fear nothing more would have been done on the car.. I suspect the lads spent a day on it this week. Still it's all coming along now, and they tell me that they're going to finish all of the prep and then they can finish paint everything.. :)

Thanks for reading :)

Incredibly frustrating isnt it. My Clio has been away for bodywork for four months now and progress is...well...i've seen fucking continents move faster.

I've had to get a bit shitty with them to get significant progress.

Still twiddling thumbs?? They're taking as long as I do!
Went and saw it a couple of weeks ago & the bloke said he was hoping to have it in primer by the end of AUGUST! :aggressive.gif:

TBH I'm getting a little bit p1ssed off with it now... and TBH if someone wanted to take it off my hands for the right price I'd be tempted.. :dg:

Decent companies who can deliver on time and too budget who actually give a dam are alas becoming more and more rare. Or you pay a serious hiked premium

Kick there butt's Dave

I had a similar experience at the body shop. Was quite friendly with the guy so said no rush, got another banger to roll around in. In my head no rush was a month not a week job so he could fit other jobs around it, didn't expect it to be longer than the mot on the banger which I knew wouldn't pass again! Told him I needed it back ASAP and he had it finished within the week.

Tell them it's taking longer than expected and you want it done sooner, there's no reason except them wanting to do the easier work first in most cases.

I see your pathetic bodyshop and raise you 1st Feb to now and still not finished, for my car o_O

Six months! Fuming! Fucking awful service isnt it. Its like our money isnt as good as the next persons. I dont understand it.

I will raise you Dave to 4 years. Yes you read that right 4 years !. It's a mate that's doing it but it's beyond a joke now. Told him I want it back by 18th of August otherwise I may just go and collect it. The annoying thing is its nearly finished. I wasn't that bothered at first as it gave me time to buy more and more parts and got it off my drive. Now I just want to build the damn thing. If I had any sense I would be better off just selling all the parts I've collected as there is enough money to go out and buy something modern and fast. But then I have no sense so it will get built...... eventually....

Just had roof, rear bumper boot lid, side skirts, rear quarters and variety of small trims painted & all done within a week.
If you count in that I had front and doors done last year which also took a week it only took 2 for paint and then and another couple for me too reassemble all at mate rates at a Ferrari, Maserati approved shop.

Soooo.... time for an update on Project 11 Turbo :dy:

To save you looking back thru this thread, I dropped the car off with Mark Hellyar of M.A.R.C. (Melton Accident Repair Centre) in Melton Mowbray on Saturday 16th April 2016. Last time I went to see it in July he told me that the car would be in primer by the end of August so went there today to get an update. Well what did I find?

Yep, the car stuck in the corner of the bodyshop in pretty much exactly the same state it was when I dropped it off there in April!! :ireful2.gif::ireful2.gif::ireful2.gif: In the 141 Days he has had the car (or 4 months, 19 days!) he had managed to de-lock the doors and repair the dent on the N/S rear quarter, and that work was done in the first few weeks I took the car to him!!

Whilst I was there I saw a Ferrari 360 Spider all stripped out and took a few pictures:

It was then I noticed that many of the parts off the Ferrari were actually stacked inside/outside my car:

So this was the point I got rather annoyed and ended up telling the owner I was fed up with him taking on more work & leaving my car at the back of his unit with nothing done to it. He tried to tell me that it was in the diary to be done, so I reminded him that he promised to get it in primer by the end of August... at which point he went a little quiet.

So I'm now back to bloody square one and told him I'm going to pick it up off him and take it somewhere else... trouble is where.. :cf:

What a waste of good time and faith in his company....hope you informed him that no funds would be received or he could offset them and pay for the reallocation to another body shop

Can have a chat with my body shop I use to see if he would want to take on and be able to complete. It is in Daventry though or can see if Alex at PA could recommend closer to your place
