Sun was splitting the paving stones 400 miles north. I thought ` They've got a good day for it' I've been to a couple of events that have been quiet, suppose it will take time to gather pace. Well done.

Looking good There’s a shot nose to nose with a red gordini that is almost too much , Reno porn at is best,
What prep did I do for the Le French Fest?? Wash it! 
But the car is still FAR from ready for show-season.. the paintwork feels incredibly rough and not glass smooth as you would expect….
Tonight I started the long work of getting the bodywork properly ‘SHOW READY’ and that began with A good going over with a Clay-Bar and some clay lube:
If you’ve not done it before, the process is super simple, spray the lube over the bodywork and then flatten the clay into as flat a pancake as possible, then lightly wiper it over the bodywork:
It’s a strange process, as you can’t feel it doing it’s magic, but when you feel the paintwork after you’ve done it, it feels like glass!!
Took a picture showing all the oxidation and detritus the clay had pulled off the paintwork:
Only did the passenger side this evening, got the drivers side to do, before the machine polishing begins.

No, not yet mate. Had a cursory look at the clocks last night, and pulled them out. Now to fault find why the fog lights aren’t coming on..??

Word of warning Steve, claybar is great… but can easily marr the paintwork and ideal should only be used before polishing…
If you want to achieve similar results I suggest fall out remover, followed up by tar and glue remove… this removes the contaminates from the paintwork without the risk of Marring…
Followed up by a nice wax or sealant and your golden, once coated with sealant or wax it will help protect the paintwork (ofcourse you can go all in and ceramic coat it)..

Thanks for the advice Chris. For sure the next step will be to Polish the car.
Wasn’t happy with the new style “Flat” wipers I’d fitted to the 11 for the MOT. The new design was just too modern to fit with the old skool cool of the car, and I knew it would lose me a few points in the painful world of Show & Shine!! C
The Renault 11 has a very specific old wiper arm design, which needs a blade that has an angled “beam” near the connection with the arm.
I’ve been doing some HARD googling, and took a punt on a good old Valeo wiper blade:
Which had the angled beam at the top:
Low and behold, it fits like a DREAM!!!
You can see where the bend on the beam helps it clear the R11 Wiper arm:

Good day fecking about with the 11 Turbo today with @jas_racing and we’ve finally got the dashboard illuminating the Fog Light icons!!
The issue with the rear fog light was the switch, the contacts had corroded inside so the signal to the dashboard lamp wasn’t being sent.
The wiring to the fog lights at the front wasn’t correct, so when that was changed, things started working a treat!!
MOT #2 booked for 8:00am on Saturday 7th May so I’m confident now I’ll be coming home with a clean sheet!!

Visited the Goodwood festival of speed this year, and whilst there treat myself (or more so the Renault 11) to a bespoke fitted car cover from the chaps at Classic Additions:
Went for a light grey all over, with red pinstripes to pick out the red strips in the bumpers, and then Red wing mirror covers, to help me figure out where it goes when you’re trying to fit it on.
Well it turned up this week, and I thought I would take a little time-lapse video if it going on for the first time:
Very pleased with it and love the luxurious soft inner fleecy liner!! Will definitely come in handy keeping the dust off her!!
So what you really want to know, how much was it?? £320 with the Goodwood Festival of Speed promotion Discount.
Think the Raider will be getting one soon….
