Renault 11 Turbo PH2 (Portuguese)

First of all, thanks to "Big Steve" for inviting me to these boards.

My name is Vitor and I'am a very big Renault fan, mainly 80's and early 90's models. I currently own a Renault 11 Turbo PH2 that a bought 1 year ago for 1650€. Before I bought it, I took my chances on another 11's but they were all rusty buckets or mechanical nightmares. When I bought it I knew that it had allot to be done, mainly interiors and some metal work (as far as the eye can see), but it drive beautifully and it was low km (85000 km at that time). No problem... I could drive it while buying all the parts needed and hoard all the stuff before starting to pull it apart.

Gathering parts led me to start "working" as a breaker and sell parts for classic Renault like GT Turbo, 11 Turbo, 9 Turbo, Clio 16s, 19 16s. So if any of you need help with restoration, I might give you a hand.

Once I got it home I inspected it closer and see that the whole ignition circuit most be retired (leds, spark plugs, rotor and distributor cap). The AEI was also swapped for a RE360 (Renault 19 1.4), which make it advanced on the timming but made the turbo lag even more. Some parts were also missing: air filter box and intake pipe, scuttle rubber, turbo heatshield and some other stuff.

Originally the car had a sunroof which then started leaking and was removed and in it's place a sheet metal was welded. Sadly the painter used tons of filler which cracked over the time, so it will have to be fixed. I will replace the whole roof for an original non sunroof one. Also, door hinges need fixing and the drivers front side was knackered on some accident and not fixed properly.

Before I bought the car it was stood outdoors being cooked by the hot sun. That made all body plastic panels to warp, so they all need to be refurbished or replaced. Interior also need refurb. Dash needs to be replaced and driver seat too.

First parts bought:

Then a small service was performed: oil, filters, leads, spark plugs.

Looking for parts: The beginning

After checking what was missing and what was needing replacing I started looking for parts. I knew where some possible donors were, but price was prohibited. I bought some GT Turbo parts from a car that appeared on a breaker near me. Sold them all and bought a front bumper for my 11. Some months after I contacted a a fellow that had "some" (lol) 11 parts for sale, he said he had a shell with a complete interior and was asking 150€ for it. I bought the shell from him and discovered that my car was sold to it's previous owner by him.

As for the parts:

The stuff you see was offered with the shell... I also bought a carb and some seats for more 150€. Some week after I stumbled across a Renault 9 Turbo and a breakers yard. Stripped the car for 350€ and kept some parts for my 11 Turbo.

Thanks guys!!

I've been getting some new parts, mainly exterior ones. Always going for the original stuff. I have been really lucky On getting some of them for a fraction of the price. I have new fog light, one new front headlight with yellow cap on the H1 side.

A friend of mine is building me a T25 for once I rebuild the engine that I plan to keep the most OE look possible. Meanwhile I bought a huge lot of parts. :grin.gif:
In the lot you can find a GR.A engine head and GR.A carb. hehehe

Also, last week on one of my trips I stumble upon two Renault 11 Turbo buried in the weeds. One left rusting with only 70000 km, The other tottaly complete but with a knock on the front. I made an offer but will not be easy.

Wow how long have they been there? Such a waste, this happens far too much!

The shell with engine god knows how long. The drivers side floor was gone. The other one had MOT and tax badges from 2003. :ireful2.gif:
Tomorrow I'm picking some Renault Clio 16S cup wheels and might call the owner of those two again.

The previous owner of my car wants to sell me this with all the parts but no engine:

The problem is that I want to buy it so bad!! It was going to be fitted with a C1J converted to 1600cc (Maxi).

Just keeping the thread alive. Nothing major was done to the car, just changed the original wheels for Clio 16S Turbine wheels.
I keep hoarding parts and I'm about to close the deal on two... hummpfff... one and a half 11 Turbo.

Just exchanged my Renault 5 GT Turbo rally car for a large batch of parts. The most interesting bit's inclued a mint 11 Turbp Phase 1 front end, a C2L bottom end (1600cc) and Clio Williams wheels.
