remove ABS Block

Turbjj

Well-Known Member
I have installed front Brembo-calipers (4 Piston) from a Peugeot 406 Coup? with Focus ST225 Discs. (ABS disconnected) This works far better then original 21 Turbo Brakes, but the Brakepedal feels a little strange. A local Renault Dealer told me to remove the ABS -Block and fit an Mastercylinder with Booster from the 2.0l 21 without ABS.

Has anybody done this before? Does anybody know if 2.0l espace or R25 Mastercylinder/Booster are the same than on 2.0l R21?

Thanx for Help

I might be wrong but I think some people have changed there's to a mk1 Laguna master. I've fitted a big break kit to mine and the pedal doesn't feel great so I'm prob gonna go down this route.

It's one of my very long running projects that may be completed one day!! but there is more to this conversion than just fitting a master cylinder & servo unit, especialy on L/H/D vehicles.
You will may have to relocate/move the clutch master cylinder first (Euro cups were mount inside) and then find a M/C of the right piston to stroke measurment suitable for the brake calipers volume & pedal ratio.

One bit of advice, double check the bleeding of the entire brake system & make sure that each front caliper is bleed from BOTH bleed valves (Two per caliper)

I found the pics from the Europacup, mmhh... clutch cylinder inside, but the M/C looks like on an R21 without ABS, or not?

Im gonna check the bleeding when i mount my new shock absorbers (im waiting to get them back from sport6evolution)

Thanx

Like Rich said, problem is when fitting the servo unit from any N/A 21 (without ABS) you dont have enough space to get the mastercilinder in place. The servo unit sits in the way.

There is a solution, again what Rich said, and that replacing the MC to the inside like the EC. Another solution is using the servo from the megane 1 (2.0-16v), thats way smaller but twice the thickness then the 21 non ABS unit and then the MC passes the servo. This servo in combination with the lagune (23.9) brakemastercilinder is the ideal solution.

The most expansive option is remove everything and mount any universal pedalbox with masters attached.

The Megane Servo / Laguna M/C combination sounds good for me. Used Servo about 50 E.- new M/C 60 Euros.

Thanx for helping out!
