Megane Reinstalling the left-hand driveshaft on 225

Hello,

I've had the coilovers removed from my 225 ph1 and while doing so, I accidentally pulled out the gearbox side driveshaft. Not too bad, since I wanted to replace gearbox oil anyway. However, once I've put everything back together, I can't seem to push the driveshaft in all the way. I undid the driveshaft nut and manage to push the driveshaft a bit further but still it doesn't look all the way in as the one on the other side. When pushing it, I head a metallic clunk and it stops and doesn't go in any further. Any advice?

I took out the driveshaft completely to look inside. Is there supposed to be a metal bar across between driveshafts? Also, from the pictures, could the seal be the problem I can't fit the driveshaft in?

Replace the seal and make sure the tripod bearing goes into the inner cv joint. Also make sure the cv joint has not popped off the end of the shaft - i dont think this will have happened as they usually need a belt with a hammer to remove
