Race engines

Its been a while but I'm once again on the hunt for info regarding europacup and super production engines. I've had a quick look through archives and on google etc but only really uk sites. From pictures you can the the inlet and exhaust manifolds differ, prob have a larger throttle, the turbo is larger as is the exhaust system, standalone ecu and the injectors must be bigger. I've been told the compression ratio is dropped from 8 to 7.5:1. They have steel liners so I guess boost is high, 2bar+, and a steel crank, so presume they rev high, 7k+. Power seems to vary from 300-450bhp.
So, regardless of the ancilleries surrounding the engine, and the rest of the car, does anyone know the engine specs either first hand or from a reliable source? Cams, valves, head work, pistons etc etc.
Modern day tuning seems to be approached alot differently than back in the day so I don't think it's worth trying to replicate, more curious as to how they flow so much better than stock engines.
Opinions please.

speak to Jo in Belgium - He has a good friend that is attached to the renault sport factory in france and has access to a wealth of info & europa cup parts,,,,

Thanks, I still check in regular here but it's been a bit quiet. I don't think jo has been on for a while or if he would want to help? If anyone does keep in contact with him and wouldn't mind asking it would be appreciated. I'm quite surprised there isn't much info. Surely someone has stripped a standard and race engine and made comparisons?

Nobody has a Superproduction engine to strip, they're all in a museum. We do know that its a whopping great cam (it's resting idle was a very uneasy 2000rpm), steel liners, steel rods, steel crank and the output was 440bhp @ 8000rpm and 2.5 bar boost (absolute). The powerband didn't start until 6000rpm. I have heard something along the lines of 310 degree duration and >11mm lift at the valve which would equate to about half that on the cam.

The regulations stated the block and head castings had to be factory items but I'm not sure if that means factory (no mods) or factory (with work allowed). The regulations also specified a 1220kg weight minimum and the tyre width was max 9". The Superpro was also 4wd with three differentials (IIRC). The front (and rear?) brakes were 4-pot AP's and 12.7 inch discs.

Cheers. That's kinda what I was thinking, if it was similar spec (not materials) to the Europacup, but different cam timing (rather than cam) moving the powerband up (no more torque but higher peak torque for more bhp) meaning it would need higher idle speed or whether it was a different cam,
and then a bigger blower again moving the powerband higher with a load more boost too.
I think regs generally allow mods but have to be original castings so guess the superpro had head work, europacup probably std to keep competition costs down and fairer but did either have std size valves?
Just having a few thoughts as will be back on with it in a couple weeks once the t1000 is finished and up for sale :)

I don't know mate I don't have the answers to those questions im afraid. Europa Cup was considerably less powerful, 300bhp so I would imagine there was quite a big difference in the Cam, RPM range and ECU MAP.
