R5 1721cc Monaco Manual - whats my carb?

Hi there I have recently acquired a R5 Monaco 1721cc Manual for my son, but on servicing the car it became apparent the carb is SNAFU (the air filter bolts are threaded grrrr and i suspect the carb is well worn)T
The only markings that I can see on the carb are SOLEX at the rear of the carb (bulkhead side) I am partially disabled and struggle to do the leaning over the engine thing for long so I am doing the lazy thing and asking others for help lol!

:?: So is the Carb a solex and if so what model am I looking for and are there any other carbs that will fit easily in its place. :?:

P.S. what a cracking little site I have fallen in love  with the R5 again after many years of not giving it a second thought :D

Thanks in advance for any hekp you may be able to offer

Charlie

not sure what carb is fitted to the monaco...

although i do know they fitted that engine to volvo 340's with a carb ;)

I think Hannu is your man on that one.He (if memory serves)has restored one.If you get no joy try the Haynes book of fiction and lies  You may be lucky and it will tell you what your carb is and how to overhaul it.Failing that in France the Monaco was called the Bacarac (i think?) and someone might be selling one on ebay.fr so you get to id the carb and buy one too.

many thanks

Many thanks for replying to my post and i will try the avenues suggested and hopefully come up with a replacement 2nd hand or new (if I am lucky) carb for the old girl :) charlie

Mine was a 1400cc automatic, not the 1721cc manual, so different carb. Haynes lists the carb as a Solex 32/34 Z13

I have a memory that the 1721cc Volvo engine is the same as the R5 one?
