Megane R26 coil pack order please?? Rough idle & engine vibration after spark plug change

Hi all,
Please can anyone confirm the coil pack order on the Megane R26? I had my spark plugs changed last week but I'm not sure the mechanic took notice of the order of the coil pack. The car is now vibrating like mad and I can feel it through all the pedals, even when idle. The higher the revs, the more vibration I seem to get.

The problem has just started since I had the work done,....the car was fine before.

I don't really understand the numbering system which is commonly used e.g. 3 4 2 1 etc. So I might need a dummy explanation

If I upload a photo of the coils on my engine could you guys confirm if any of them are in the wrong place?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jp

The car always runs from 1 - 4 and 1 being at the flywheel end.

Are they genuine Renault coils ? ( Beru )

It sounds to me like one has been disturbed.

Unplug them one by one and try and start the car. If it doesnt sound like a bag of spanners with one disconnected then you have found the faulty one.

Hi Andy thanks for the quick reply.

Yeah they are genuine coils.

I'll check the order first, and if that's correct I'll try your suggestion of disconnecting them one by one.

Just a quick one.........so coil number 1 goes on the side of the engine closest to the battery, and coil 4 goes to the side of the engine closest to where you fill the coolant & washer fluid? So its 4-3-2-1 as if you're looking down onto the engine?

And are the coils numbered at all :ac:??

I've just checked and the mechanic used these sparks plugs - Bosch FR 7 DPP+ (they do appear on the euro car parts website for my Registration number):
| Car PartsRetailer

I've always ran the car on OEM plugs, which I believe are NGK PFR7Z-TG. Wondering if this could be the issue?

I'll do the disco check anyway and see how I get on, just wondered if you knew about the spark plugs.

I've just looked at my euro car parts bill and saw that this oil has been used: TRIPLE QX Engine Oil (5w40 Fully Synthetic)
I've never even heard of this before, is it any good?!

For the past 3 years I've been using Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 Ester Fully Synthetic Engine Oil.

Have you checked the plug gaps ??
I say this as I had a Clio in today from another garage as they couldn't find the cause of bad running and like you fitted new plugs, coils plus O2 sensor and a few other bits and all it turned out to be was plug gaps all over the place either to large or small.
Their excuse was the new plugs came with protection tubes so they didn't check them!!!

I have no idea what the gap should be for the plugs. I've ordered the correct NGK plugs from OPIE oils so I hope the gap is correct. If you buy them from Renault do they come pre-set with the correct gap?!

I did noticed this morning that the engine is running a bit smoother with the weather being cooler, which made me think....... I have noticed over the past few years that my engine runs roughly in hot weather. A few years ago I got an intermittent engine warning light and a lot of misfiring, stuttering and spluttering when the weather was very hot. I was going to get the injectors cleaned but I never got the warning light again.

Could the injectors be contributing to this? The Megane doesn't haven't a fuel filter and I've heard of people having issues with injectors.

So I changed the spark plugs, the car is the same.

Do I still need to do the disco test?

It seems to be much rougher in hot weather, and I am getting a little bit of the exhaust cough.
