R19 Diesel Brake Servo

Hi Guys,
it doesn't feel like the servo is working on my 19 diesel, would I be right in saying that the servo vacuum pump is driven from the end of the camshaft and that the servo itself is well hidden below the inlet manifold? Anyone any ideas on what is the most likely cause of the servo system to fail?

yep thats the one, pull the hose off and see if its pulling a vacuum, it won't suck your finger in hard so don't expect it to.

other than that check the hose and make sure the plastic 1 way valve on the servo hasn't fallen out

Thanks for the reply, that servo looks like a right bitch to get at! Will have a look at it next weekend but I've a more pressing problem now! Was on my way to get the it NCT'ed (Irish equivalent of the MOT) and pulled in at the petrol station next to the test center to check the tyre pressures and noticed a bit of steam coming out from under the bonnet. Lifted the bonnet and there was water everywhere! The hose coming out of the thermostat to the back of the engine had burst, so no NCT today!

Ok, bit of a bodge job done on the water hose but the car is now back running again and hopefully holding water. So back to the servo problem, The pump is fine as I can get suction when I hold my finger over the end of it. The big question now is.... how the hell do I get at the servo with the engine in the car??

you can do it with the engine in but I would just pu7ll the lump out a lot less hassle, otherwise take the manifolds off.

have you checked the hose isn't burst or fallen off?

Hi Chris,
engine out is not an option, I just don't have the time at the moment. Thought manifolds off would be the way to go, hoped it wasn't though! Would check the hose but I can't see much of it or where it joins the servo. Oh well, manifolds off so!
