Puncture Repair Kit Missing - Phase II ???

GlowRed

New Member
Hi,

I recently bought a Phase II, 54 plate Jan 2005.

I have looked through the manual and it shows a tool kit under the drivers seat with tyre repair canisters, similar in shape and design to the one located in the back.

I've looked under both seats and there is no tool kit, no velcro straps to hold the kit or even holes for the straps.

Should there be a kit on not?

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

Carl.

Hi Carl, from past geeky-ness, it seems that these kits were only on earlier 255's. Your car is probably on the cusp. Are there any witness marks on the carpet, as if something once was there? If not, it probably never had them. Later cars just had a fabric wallet supplied lose, containing 2 cans of foam.

Your better off with one of those tyre repair kits than the foam I'd say, the one I got was called "Stop and go" available on Amazon.

I've used it once and as a temporary repair, to get you to a garage they are just the job.

Foam was not a great idea in hind sight. It makes a mess of the wheel and the tyre, in some cases making the tyre irreparable, even if it was.

The foam was / is a bad idea, it works but if the tyre can be repaired your local tyre fitter would not repaire it as they are only going to charge you £12.00 to do the repaire that would normally take 10 mins to do. With the foam in the tyre they would have to spend an hour cleaning all that crap out of the tyre and the wheel....time is money.

Many thanks for the reply.

There are no marks on the carpet, it is just plain black. There are no marks where the straps could have been.

There is a D shaped loop that can be turned forward and back. This is mounted on a bar that the carpet goes over.

if ur vee used to have them, you would have a plastic bracket which the straps go through to keep it it place.

yep keep them out of the boot !!!!!

Thanks for all the info guys, very much appreciated.

It seems pretty clear that my later car never had the under seat tool kit.
