This is my newly acquired 1988 Renault 11 turbo in need of total restoration. In this project report i'll be posting updates on how the build progresses.
Before i bought the car it had sat in a garden since 2005 after failing an MOT. Needless to say six years of harsh weather and no love have seriously taken its toll. It runs sweet but the body has really let go,
The only modifications are:
Baileys dump valve
Bleed Valve
Full 3" scorpion stainless exhaust
TSW alloys
The oldest JVC cd head unit in history plus 6x9's!
It starts runs and drives absolutely fine. The engine is sweet as a nut after having a service. The brakes still work fine as does 'most' of the electrics. However as you can see in the pics the rear torsion bar setup has collapsed. This however is the tip of the iceburg when looking at the condition of the body!.
Below are pics of the whole car as it stands:

Now, Just when it all seems to be going well with the pictures making the car look quite tidy its time to reveal the full extent of the Body's condition..
Drivers rear arch
Whats left of the drivers side sill behind the skirt.

Passenger side rear arch

Boot floor

Boot lid guttering

Rotton bonnet! (Underneath)

Rusty tailgate (Probably leaking water into the boot)

Both wings look like this

So on the whole the shell is pretty well F***'d. Rot has also found its way into the doors! A full re-shell is looking like the easier option rather than getting it welded but im not writing the shell of just yet. The engine, interior, running gear and electrics are all fine. Just a shame the shell is so rotton.
The car did however come with standard speedline alloys.

A new old stock headlight to replace the cracked one.

A new set of brake discs.

Oh and a broken interior fan...

So to sum up the is the start of a major project to try and rescue a classic that in my opinion is well worth saving, even if the restoration out weighs the value of the car!
