Well after buying this and was going to break it, and after driving it for a few days i have decided to keep it ( complete anyway lol ) i tried not to like the car as it was built for the track and far to low , but its grown on me. which will make some people happy as im not going to kill it.

and i have done well this year only bought 12 renos and 6 are still alive.. in the project pile lol ( AND PEOPLE SAY I DONT DO PROJECTS)
But i think im getting into SAVE the renaults to much now lol, but since i have a year off work to play i may as well do something.

so whats next for it ?? all the hard work is done , just really a lick off paint and straighen some off the panels , bit off welding and thats it ,

i will prob be rewiring it not cause it needs it just because its a bit untidy.

will update photos as it goes.

should all be done by end off week

really should do the quadra next but its the thought off digging it out and havent seen it in 6 years lol

It's a Volvo 400 series turbo. 120bhp from factory but an extra 50bhp can be squeezed from the std setup. A few other choice mods and can be tuned to 230bhp. What used to be in my 5, and a good few that I've built ;)

440 too. Engines the same, boxes are different.

this one goes ok , running 1 bar off boost and chipped ?? , many people have tried this conversion and can never get it right (for some reason) haz is your man to talk to about these as he liked doing them and he did them well , i have done a few mainly in clios though and allways found them to be ok , but i prefer the c1j engine for mucking around with , but it does look good when you open the bonnet and see it (when its tidy)

The ecu's have to be modified, most have been done by scoff, as they will only run 10psi before they retard the timing to the point that they misfire. 1bar is the max that the std injectors will fuel for.
I've converted alot of 5 and helped out with many as been doing them for about 10years after I realised that me and carbs don't mix lol. They work out about the same price to tune as a c1j, i just found them more reliable with more torque, more like driving with a Williams lump. My last engine had done over 160,000 miles, the last 30,000 at 24psi and abused daily until I trapped the vac pipe to the map sensor behind the dash causing it to spit its guts and take out most of the bottom end at Malloy a couple years ago. ?80 got another bottom end and off it went. Now lives on in another rtoc members car

even colour coded the exhaust (ruff lol )

And the light loom, petrol cap, door handles, boot struts and boot lock! Do they not sell masking tape in Scotland?

I know a few painters that prime/paint like that. It's because they see it as an old car and don't care as the owner just wants a cheap blow over so have to save time/cost somewhere. I mean why primer the full car?

because priming the whole car is how you do it properly , NOT spot priming as that can cause colour differences with the different base colours , its better to be painting on top off 1 colour , and if the paint work has chips/scratches you would prime with a high build primer then flatten off to fill in the imperfections , do you understand ?? tryed putting it in simple terms for you lol , and covering everthing in overspray doesnt save time as i have to wipe it off now lol ,

When mine was done, I told him to prime the whole thing too.

He didnt though by the looks of it, cos its gone a bit flaky in some of the damn corners.

I understand as I've been doing concourse restorations for many years, that's why I'm asking ;)
Personally, I don't think it is the right way unless there's marks all over the car. Colour differences can occur but generally just mean there isn't enough base coat although some colours are more translucent so I use a similar colour to cover up first and have no issues, and I'm fussy. Also I would 't have da'd the full car, esp a 5 with it's coke can panels as its just making more work after the primers gone on.Veach to there own I guess.
That's ma point in masking too, it's quicker than running around with the thinners and shows that the hidden areas are possibly poorly prepped too.

Dave, plain and simply, it wasn't prepped enough round the edges

you have been doing concourse restorations lol and you dont prime all over ?? do you not take the paint right off back to metal for these sort off jobs ?? sounds like you do half jobs more like ,

Yes, I don't see what's funny? Yes and yes. But we're talking about the blow over your doing atm. I've not slagged you off like you've just done, just asked why. . . So defensive! There's plenty of threads on different forums about your paintwork tho, recent one that springs to mind was a red gtt bumper . . .

i have allways been defensive lol. Just when you say priming all over isnt the way to do it , and then you do restorations on cars ,which should be primed ,contradictions i think , if your going to say one thing then just stick to it ,, or amit that you dont no jack ****

storys again lol , lots off different forums ?? about my paint work was it not about stolen cars last time you tried to stir up ****?? lol get a grip i have WARNED you before about it and maybe i have to remind you again ?? so shut it end off

and ps red gtt bumper i did not paint but had been painted and wee prick who thought he was smart , when i refunded him thought he would damage it then send it back ,
