5 GT Turbo Phase 2 Rot Box, the project begins....

While I would say I'm slightly unhinged with my 5 project.....you have taken it to the next level 💪💪💪👌

A picture paints a thousand words so they say......did you have any choice ones for this one 🤔😄

Keep up the great work, doing fantastic and looking forward to the updates, keep them coming 👍

Thank you for you're kind words, I must admit it doesn't seem to phase me how much work there is, I must admit I'd have scrapped it years ago. I only paid £2k for a running car, the motor holds compression very well, so I think I did ok. I've got loads of new parts I'm collecting, so quite excited to see the end result. These forums I love to read and thought I'd give back a bit showing my resto 😁 I also bought a 52k campus which was very solid, hence I cut it up for parts, oh and the roof skin swap 😬

Yet again, hats off to you mate! Mammoth task ahead and you’re tackling it head on. Keep up the good work.

FYI, the front bumper brackets from Mike @ gt turbo spares are decent quality. I’ve just used them on mine. 👍🏻

Ok thanks. I'm over in the UK next week and I'm popping into him. Already spent a fair few quid on underparts parts. Hoping to pick up a new genuine front screen and a few other parts 😁 I do like a challenge, it won't be a concourse build but very close I hope 😎

Sorry for no recent updates, I've been busy away and started sorting the engine also. The carb has been rebuilt by Mark B, he's done an amazing job, it was in quite a mess! I've also bought a rollover jig and managed to get the IMG_20250523_152235.webpMessenger_creation_1BE9BE6F-1891-43BC-8395-16C4BA2C9271.webpfront end bolt on today, the rear should be interesting as the rear mounts are rotten, are ideas!? I was planning on bolting it into the rear panel and welding the holes shut later on. I'm hoping to start cleaning/welding and primering the underside in the next few weeks.

As Duncan says, somewhere around where those bumper blocks fit.

You can see @Chris74# has gone through just below here and mounted to the side of the chassis rail. Here’s the link to the page on his thread. (I deleted the link as it took up way to much space, and didn’t even link to the correct page. it’s on page 7 if you want to have a look.

Also recently saw a guy on YouTube do it the same way.

I’m sure people have done it this way, and many others ways over the years. There’s more than one way to skin a cat/car, as they say. These are just the ones I’ve seen whilst I’ve been rummaging the web for help with mine.

I hope it helps 👍🏻

EDIT - (Oh, it automatically linked!) 🤣

Ahh thank you, as you can imagine my rear panel is very sick as are my rear chassis legs, I'll grab some pics tomorrow. I've been following the guy above on You Tube, I didn't see his latest update, so thanks 👍

While I adapted my rotisserie for the rear I mounted through the rear bumper plastic block insert holes and used some 5mm steel bits the other side to spread the clamping area.

Will try to grab a few pics later if needed but this area has some extra strength already 👍
If you could show me please, I don't mind drilling the rear panel, I just don't want the hassle of bolting to the rotten chassis legs if possible.
