Ph1 with 18000mls - rebuilt gearbox

I went to see this one when I was looking for my first Vee back in the begining of April this year. 18000 miles but looked as if it had done 180,000 miles. The steering wheel was completely shot to pieces and in tatters (never shown in the photos). Seats were cracked. Little dinks and stones chips all round. And there was also a sizeable crack in the nearside corner of the rear bumper.
The patter went something along the lines of.... It a mates car and I'm selling it as a favour. Been sitting on he's driveway for a few years and he's never really driven it. The tattered steering wheel is down to sun damage....
He was a little on edge when I asked to see all the MOT certificates as I wasn't convinced about the mileage being genuine given the state of the motor. Also had alarm bells ringing regarding the new gearbox and clutch @ 18000 which didn't sound right.
Didn't know it was a Cat D, but even so - we walked away.
